Ball-licking HP wank
This is small, but quite entertaining. A post on Sirius' character change between GoF and OotP is made and recced on the Daily Snitch. The original post is not wanky. hi1arity seems to find it objectionable, however, and resorts to using bold, extremely excessive italics, swearing, caps lock, terrible spelling, and the dreaded hello! to make her point. (Which appears to be that omgSiriusisdabombdontsaymeanthingsiluvhim). Her challenge that "you cannot fucking tell me Sirius wasn't worse off in OotP" is taken up by mortifyd (whose point starts out well but appears to be motivated by a good dose of omgSiriusisdaevolyouGryffindorho). Mortifyd wins this round, however, with the glorious revelation about Sirius' time in Azkaban: At least as a dog he could amuse himself by licking his balls.

The whole thing degenerates into back-and-forth sniping, with hi1arity resorting to the "have you read the books?" argument and the classic sentence "[y]ou seem to be a very cold and bland individual", as well as admitting she was so mad she was shaking as she posted one of her replies. Teh horror!

Final joy is that both personal journals have entries on the issue: here and here, with a final swipe about the ball-licking. 'Cause that's what it's really all about.

I actually know from great personal battles with depression exactly the horrifying nature of it - hence my absolute loathing of it being used as an excuse for childish behaviour. I have watched my life crumble and rebuilt it more times than you could ever know. The difference being that I took responsibility for changing my life, Sirius Black did not.

He. Is. Not. REAL!

Exactly. He can't do anything that the author doesn't allow him to do. I think there are people who honestly don't get that in relation to HP.

Stupid Sirius! Why didn't you ask mortifyd what to do? Why didn't you take him as a role model? Stupid, arrogant brat!
Mortifyd is good, Mortifyd is a genius, Mortifyd has nothing better to do all that is needed to survived Azkaban and the Black's Household and...

Wait? In which book was Mortifyd mentioned? O_O

I definitely don't share hi1arity's love for Sirius, but. If mortifyd wanted a debate, he should have thought about checking the condescending attitude at the door.

Ah, but you see, those weren't even points. How closely did you read my comment? Not closely at all.

And I pointed it out, too. SEVERAL TIMES IN MY COMMENT, IN FACT, if you'd bother to have actually read it, which it seems you didn't.

now I know there's a "law" about this in jurismiprudence. Let's see... ah yes. Here it is.

Not to mention the 4 times she accused mortifyd of not reading the books. And the countless ad hominem arguments.

Yep. She loses SO HARD.

Sad thing is that I think hi1arity may have had a good point, that being forced to stay in his childhood had a negative effect on Sirius and his actions, but her overreaction later in the post kinda destroys the point she wanted to make.

Wow that was a long sentence.

I don't know about the debate, but I think mortifyd loses at life. Sirius is a fictional character, okay? Honestly, that means he is--oh, screw it. I don't think anyone can explain the concept of fantasy versus reality to you*. Now I will use derogatory terms and a condescending attitude to render your fingers helpless; you will not be able to tip-tap-tip-tap out a reply on your sticky keyboard.

Actually, I think both debaters lose by the end of the debate, although the balls-licking comment was great.

Well, I found this on my flist (wow! Wank on my flist! First time ever!) and I have to say that mortifyd had a good point with the Blacks not being as upper class as, say, the Malfoys, because of the use of French. Pity about the way in which he delivered it, as I can't say that I know American history to the same extent that I know British history and thus would not expect more from other people than I do from myself.

Also, woe about the wank, because I actually agreed with the essay.

And hi1arity? Breathe, dear. It wouldn't do to die of hyperventilation over a livejournal post.

And woe again for my giving hi1arity a quick and dirty history lesson about the significance of the year 1066.

Why does every HP wank seem to reference the British class system? And exactly why is it so important that the 'Ancient' house of Black go back as far as 1066 or earlier? The aristocratic families have little or no importance in today's society of Pop Idol and Big Brother. Plus, the aristocracy is well known for rewriting history (the Tudors) or blatantly disregarding their own family history (the current royal family). Just because the Malfoys and Blacks are Big Names doesn't mean they've been around all that long.

I can trace my family back nearly 1000 years. Big deal. I still have student loans. :(

Sirius "My woe is TEH woe" Black: beloved and weeped by every psychiatrist to have treated him of all the traumas his ravid fangirls claim he's had in order to excuse him of his sins: from childhood trauma, to Azkaban madness syndrome, to depression and loneliness, and in closet homosexuality...

All I can say is, girls - you obviously think he was tormented in life, leave him his (un?)death, please.
