I don't know if you could really consider [info]non_uglies type communities a "fandom", but a lot of people *do* like applying to them.

Pretty Gems is an average community in this vein. Checking the community's journal turns up nothing especially interesting to read, either. Actually, this is a pretty secretive community. The funny part is how I found out about them:

"I am leaving you this comment because I believe you are one of the chosen cats. There is a rating community on this human website that allows cats to join. I believe you would be perfect for this community, as you understand the perfection only cats have. "

Check out their user info - one of the community policies is to pic spam other communities and LJs. Yes, even the journals of cats.

ETA: Thanks to [info]athy, we now have the origins of Pounce, the first cat. Pounce tries to join Pretty Gems. I was so very much tempted to do the same thing - but I'm lazier than my cat, so no.

I consider myself fairly intelligent, but I must admit that page completely stumped me. None of it makes any sense, least of all why anyone in their right mind would submit themselves to such draconian rule. And for what? A pic to put on their info page? I can make a pic like that myself - I hardly need this power-mad bitch's approval for it.

A rather large picture, might I add. And about 400 new rules that go with it. I'd also like to know how this woman knows that you've gone and done your monthly pic-spamming advertising of her comm. If you don't turn in links, you get banned?

Probably. If not, it should be. I'm sure that if they keep it up, someone will eventually report them - I can't be arsed to do it. I mean, they only posted in a *cat's* journal that hasn't been updated in at least half a year. (which is another thing that absolutely mystifies me)

Hah I saw this when my friend put it up in her journal. She was the origional cat(Pounce I think? My connection sucks so I can't access LJ right now). She made the cat journal as a joke and hasn't touched it (as far as I know) in ages. And someone put the promotion on that journal. So she went and gave them a profile of her cat as though she was the cat herself. It was classic really, and the people in the community kept yelling at her that it wasn't a journal for cats and then insulting the cat (you're too ugly and your eyes are too close together) etc. I was amused. Unfortunately not enough to save it before it disappeared. It figures I'd know two of the 'cat journals' involved. And neither should have to deal with a community like that. I'll check and see if she saved it.
