Yet another bad_rpers_suck post!
I'm sure we're all aware of Bad RPers Suck, where a group of people rant about...well...bad roleplayers. Then the fun starts when the bad roleplayer in question comes along and brings his or her friends. Then we have flame wars, get posted up here and then the flame wars begin again. But that's irrelevant to this story.

It starts off with this post, in which the question is asked about whether someone has ever cried over the death of their character. There's a few "um, it's just a game" but a lot of "oh, I know the feeling."

Presumably, minadraconia was one of the former in regards to the previous post, and then her sockpuppet friend, werskalen, posts the following rant written by minadraconia on her own journal. Not intended for said community, this rant was apparently about the aforementioned post about character death and how some people take roleplaying all too seriously (and how there are two entirely different methods of roleplaying -- emotionally vested and detached, but both can work equally well), but also about some other things too. Sadly, I can't get through the circular logic to the actual point. People take offence, presumably at the incoherence of said rant, but there are mentions of how we're better than you (closely followed by the "You have no friends because you're mean!"), although the comment about jazz hands amused.

I'd go on further, but I just can't make out what the hell's going on.

I liked the "OMG, you're calling people who cry weak?! Women were once known, and are sometimes still called, the weaker sex! Therefore you are sexist!" logic someone had going on. Sheesh.

Christ, that's too convoluted to be called circular reasoning-- it's more like a mobius strip of dubious logic that leads to nothing a sane person could understand.

Well, I never get so invested in any character that I would cry over his/her death because that's just unneeded angst and stress in my life and I am above that.

Peeee-yow! That condescencion is so thick, I can almost smell it wafting up to the ceiling. The... internet ceiling.

"You have no friends because you're mean!"

That's never stopped us at Fandom Wank, has it? This friendless bastard should follow our example and just band with other friendless bastards.

In the 'internet house'?

Sad thing is I think the person would've had a good point if they hadn't thrown that 'above it' line in there.

I agree that in an RP your characters are under your control and they don't have to be whiny angst whores unless that's what you want.

And if a situation is making you uncomforable, or you don't think it's working then you can not play it.

Tis the beauty of the RP.

From the rant:

Which sounds a lot like birth-giving... but it's kind of like that. You can have something already there, and only need the spark to give it life.

...Now I have disturbing images of mind-sperm.

*cries*

I currently play Simon Cowell in an RPG, and I can't see myself crying if he up and died, no.

Following that wank hurted my brain. Their logic is not our earth logic.

That's really twisted. You're pissed off at a community so you make your friend post in the community about how the MEMBERS of said community suck.

Friggin' genius. And then "discussion" takes place.

This thread just hurt my brain. Too many paragraphs about roleplaying. Shouldn't these people be roleplaying instead of giving us their views on Fairie Wings of Doom & how fairy tales give kids false conceptions about the world (wtf)?

Oh, so that's what it was about. My brain died after reading the first post, and as such, I couldn't make sense of the second. I had to get a translator for half of it.

Okay, so I wasn't the only one who thought the whole thing didn't make any sense. It's comforting to know I'm not as stupid.

Some part of me wants to think that maybe this person wrote the rant her self, but used the guise of "a friend" to avoid drawing heat and... like... e-hell to break loose in terms of bitchiness... or something.

Wow. Too much exposition in that wank for my tastes. O_x Long, loooooong paragraphs over... what? I tried to read it, wandered off half-way through, came back towards the end, and still have no clue what was going on in that post.

At first, I thought the author was saying the 'freaks' were wrong, then it looked like the 'serious' people were wrong, then I think she just came to the conclusion that *she* was wrong and shouldn't even be writing the rant. Or maybe that's the conclusion I came to. O_o

...I think the big "it's just roleplaying! Now, there are two types of roleplayers..." rant was best saved for the poster's OWN journal. :P

And I couldn't follow the thing myself...too long-winded!

Apparently this wank is all about shit I can't read, because it caught my eye when I tried to read your icon (sadly, my Al Bhed is not fluent enough that I can read it that quickly) and then I tried the rant and it hurt my brain and eyes. Good times.

It's the constant "as any parent would for their child," "as if he were a real person," shit that gets me. Yeah, sure, I've cried in-character during face-to-face RP, and I've gotten choked up and misty-eyed when one bit the bucket, as I do at sad scenes in a book or movie. Normal.

However, I've also lost relatives, the same way most adults have. They weren't particularly traumatic deaths, all told, and I'm not OMGSCARRED4LIFE, but it's not the same thing. At all. And making statements like the above quotes just seems a little too ELFSTAR NOOOOOO! for my tastes.

You missed this one:

Fanfiction = sexual violence. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bad_rpers_suck/714393.html?thread=10399641#t10399641)

I lost count of the times "rape" was used to refer to fanfic. My poor head.
