HP RPG Wanks Out the Wazoo
First, we have hogwarts_live:

A mod post is made.

People leave the RPG.

Person comes back.

Mod complains about whiners.

People whine.

Then, we have Afterglow(?):

Person who plays Severus leaves the RPG and later complains OMGBBQWHATHAVETHEYDONETOMYCHARACTER?!.

Other person claims first person is a liar and demands first person retract the post they made ON THEIR OWN JOURNAL.

Person leaves.

People whine.

When it gets to the point that one mod takes the day entirely offline to calm down...

A whole day! However did that poor, put-upon mod manage? Life is very hard.

Um, not that I'm really in a place to mock, having spent very few days away from my preshus intraweb since the beautiful day when it swaggered into my life.

I will always cherish the day when I finally got unlimited internet access.

It was the last day I bothered to keep regular, normal (ie: go to bed at night, not 5am in the morning) sleeping hours.

For the record, the poor, put-upon mod actually took a day off because they're in the midst of a fun, fun relapse, and the idea of a wankathon wasn't helping.

I did resurface for a quick wank later on, but teh interweb = life and a brief immersion in flying spooge never killed anyone.

Shiv, either by accident or design, lied and made a very dear friend of mine cry. The truly sad part is that the person Shiv hurt the most is supposed to be a friend of hers as well.

Mind-boggling. I visited the RPG and it seemed very scattered - like the OOC-posts weren't even marked... Hmm.

I don't really know how RPG's work, I've only been a reader of two. I've thought about playing a few times, but I constantly see my friends joining LJ/GD/DJ-based RPG's that fail (some have wank like this, some just die quietly). So I'm sure that if I was ever to join one, it'd fail or die.

Amazing how far something can be pulled out of context to provide entertainment.

For the record: the mod post was in response to a great big bunch of bullshit off the journals themselves. And the mod did, in fact, bitch about the whiners.

I'm allowed. If it makes me a horrible person because I vent about annoyances in my personal journal, so be it.

I enjoy bitching about whingers when occasion warrants, and I often enjoy bitching at them, outside my capacity as a moderator and outside the game.

And, recently, inside that capacity, as I feel it was more than deserved. It doesn't happen often, but Christ on a crippled unicycle, I'm not nearly as bad as a moderator as our disgruntled little asshat tried to imply. The game would have collapsed months ago if I was.

And in case the asshat is reading: no, that's still not slander.

As an aside, to address someone's comment above: the community does not, in fact, contain In-Character posts; interaction occurs either in individual journals or off LJ in other venues. So, sorry if people were expecting more from it, but there it lies and it's not going to change because a random poster on Fandom_Wank decided it wasn't up to their standards of roleplay.

Only one mention at F_W in seven months of play... fuck, we're slacking! Must work on that. Make a memo, Jeeves.

If I have added to that character, and developed him in interesting ways, frankly made him a different person, then I have invested enough of my intellectual capital to make him my character.

Dear ex-Severus player on "Afterglow":

You did not create the character of Severus Snape. JK Rowling did. No one forced you to leave the RP; you did that yourself. Once you leave an RP, any canon characters you portray become up for grabs. That's how it's done, and you have no right to expect a special dispensation.

OCs in an RP are a different matter. If I create a character for an RP, an entirely original one, and then leave, my OC goes with me. But if I was also playing Luna Lovegood, not only do I not have any right to object if someone else takes the part of Luna, I would expect someone to do so. It wouldn't matter if I'd "made the character my own" by raping canon going outside the boundaries of her character and made Luna a world-famous pop star (for example) and sent her out on tour when I left the RP. If the next person to play Luna decides to bring her back to Hogwarts as a nuclear physicist, well, that's the way the feather levitates.

In short, quit your bitching and get a life.

PS: I notice that the entries in ex-Snape-mun's journal are now locked. Way to close the barn door after the horse got out, sugarplum.
