Not exactly.

It's not a protest, it's an attempt to draw attention to a variety of issues related to plagiarism, not giving credit to the creators of fan art (fic, vids, manips, other media), encouraging courtesy between consumers and creators of fan art, and educating fan artists about the various options for preventing and dealing with instances when their work was redistributed, repurposed, or plagiarized without their permission.

	This is greyday.org. Excess Denial couldn't be fucked to put up a cached copy of the original (and long gone) Greyday.org to use as a visual aid. Greyday.org was about original works, not fannish "property". (Reply to this)(Parent)

I did inform one of the involved parties that their link to greyday.org goes nowhere because the project ended three years ago and the site's long down. I gave her a freaking LINK to a copy on web.archive.org and she never bothered putting it up. I really wish these idiots would quit comparing it to the original Grey Day because that was about original artwork, photography, etc. Not about what amounts to stolen property in the first place.

I was starting to plow through some of these links and didn't get real far. I assumed that all images were supposed to be gone, creating a "sensory deprivation" (as if people wouldn't look elsewhere to look for Buffy pics to stare at). http://www.thebuffinator.com/ added Buffy images to the test pattern thing... isn't that defeating the purpose? I think so.

Ah well. It'll be all over soon but in the meantime, let the wank times roll (with apologies to the late Earl King).

No, my general thinking that the idea is ridiculous is about the whole idea. Though I am in direct opposition, I thought that giving YOU the link to the original greyday.org was an attempt to be helpful. I assumed that YOU would give the link to the site maintainer if you felt like it. It was a case of my two cents, take it or chuck it.

Oh, bite me. I spotted that you'd refriended me on LJ after we'd both agreed to disengage, and we haven't gotten along for a while now online. You're trolling and you know it.

You sent me the link to the archived site, and though I posted the link in an lj cut entry my LJ, I did not send the link to the AD webmistress until today. I had other things to do, but not passing that on was my fault. Yet you badmouth her and everyone else involved in this whole thing all over the place, and you don't offer one positive action anywhere about anything related to any of the issues which AD was created to bring attention to.

I'm disengaging again, because I know you'll try to blow our personal differences into yet another personal attack or an insult to activists in general. I've got no interest in those sorts of time-wasters.

I've actually got helpful, informative guides to write, information to collect and distill into useful how-tos. What have you got to do? Oh, right. Pointing and laughing. Have fun.

I have zip to do today except laundry and buying cat food...can you tell? I'm just finding it hilarious that people are missing their own point over there.

I'm all for people having their views whether I think they're wanky or not but I think a little more time in preparation would've helped them look less, erm, amateurish.

I am highly bored and amused because this day is a semi do-nothing day in Moon Jaguar's tree. Well, I can see where people had to go to work and stuff and didn't get things up but I'd think that the "supporters" who were so interested in this project would've done something.
