OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!1111111!1!1!1!1!!
Please excuse the title of this entry, it describes my mood on the wank-fest currently taking place in the LiveJournal community antiyaoi.

Aparently, to zoicite84, the members of the community are "LiveJournal's young, nubile homophobes" and that they are "self-righteous, closed-minded numbskulls."

First let me direct you to the community's userinfo and the rules that reside on the page.

Rule number two states "This is not an anti-gay community, so don't make it one. I'm not going to stop anyone from expressing their opinion, be it pro-yaoi or anti-gay, but PLEASE DO NOT BE A FUCKING RETARD about it. "I dislike yaoi because I think homosexuality is wrong," is perfectly valid, but "I hate yaoi and all women and faggots should die in a fire," makes the internet sad and when the internet is sad it cries and when the internet cries I have to waste my fucking time and log in just to ban you because you're an idiot. Please don't waste my time."

Somehow in that rule alone I don't get where the troll thinks the community is for people who are homophobic. Nor do I see where it makes them think the members are closed-minded. But that's just me.

Also, rule number four states "No, we don't, as a whole, think that every yaoi fangirl that ever lived is like ______, so spare yourself the effort of posting and don't try to play the bloodstained martyr at the altar of Japanese cartoons. This sort of posting trend is also getting old."

I'm sure that antiyaoi has been the subject of a lot of [info]fandom_wank entries, but this one is too amusing. :)

The entry in question can be found here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/antiyaoi/65716.html

That's nice, but why are you telling US this? This really isn't about yaoi and the fans, it's about one fan in particular making an ass of themselves in an anti-yaoi comm.

The only thing I want to point out is that yaoi stories aren't *supposed* to reflect reality.

I haven't seen a yaoi author, pro or fan, claim *this* how all gay men act. [Yet]

This is this arguments main weakness IMO, yaoi and slash aren't FOR gay men, it's made by women for women.

I don't think liking yaoi makes me an actvist, and I'm well aware of how unrealistic these stories are.

This doesn't mean that you have to start buying gay porn by the truckload, only that fiction being unrealistic really isn't news, stop acting like your the first person to realize that romances are, when you get down to it, silly and plain stupid at times.

But there's a TON of het romance that's also completely and utterly ridiculous, with characters doing stuff that no sane man or woman would do. But oddly enough I don't hetrosexuals bitching and pissing about how silly Sailor Moon or MARS is.

Not that I'm necessarily meaning to put down those who do happen to enjoy the silly, fluffy or overly-angsty stuff with cutesy perfect marty stu bishie characters and lots of glomping and characters transforming randomly into chibi and/or cat/dog/bunny versions of themsevles. *L* That stuff can prove funny and amusing even to me, but in an almost trainwreckish, WTF? sense...

Tell me does shoving that huge pole up your ass and then climbing on that high horse of yours hurt?

Or can you even hear me up there on your moral high ground?

Well excuse her for providing her views on why she doesn't like yaoi/shounen ai but if you are done insulting her I would like to point out you are trolling in my post to the community and I will be more than inclined to delete any and all posts you proceed to submit if they detract from the purpose of what we are talking about here.

Yes the entry was about a yaoi/shounen ai fangirl trolling in an antiyaoi/shounen ai community however there was nothing said about anyone not being able to share their views on yaoi/shounen ai or its fanbase.

I'm with the other anonymouse on the high horse thing. Dude, yaoi is mostly for fun, entertainment, some people's kink, it doesn't have to be real or even make much sense.

What you seem to be saying is: I don't like yaoi because it's not realistic. Well, than you shouldn't like Batman, for example, or anything of the fantasy genre either, because, guess what, it's not realistic. Batman's stereotypical macho-man behavior, and I don't see anyone complaining.

Also: If you're going to elaborate on why you dislike unrealistic gay/lesbian fiction (which seems to be your issue, not just 'yaoi'), you should make points against things such as straight males' porn, too. Because those movies with women in ponytails kissing each other? Don't seem very realistic to me.

Now, if you want to have fun with gay porn literature, I recommend Wilde. And Amazon.com

Am I, perhaps, the only person on the planet who defines porn by its intended audience and not its content?

Most porn flicks with girl/girl action aren't intended for lesbians, they're intended for het guys who get off on seeing that. They're not lesbian porn.

Same with yaoi -- for the most part, it's not intended for the gay community. It's often (yes, there are plenty of exceptions, but I'm speaking in generalities) written by straight women for their own and their friends' enjoyment. It's not gay porn. That's why I call it 'yaoi' and not 'gay porn.'

If it were written for the gay market, then you'd have plenty of room for argument, because it doesn't tend to appeal to that market (yes, generalities again). But it isn't aimed at that market, and I'm not sure why it should be written as if it *were* aimed at it.

So--there may not be enough gay anime porn out there. Found a community or a website or a mailing list dedicated to it and start writing/drawing it and post it to as many palces as possible. Recruit people who are willing to try their hand at producing it. If enough people demand well-written porn that reflects their reality, then there should be a fair amount of people willing to create it.

(thus speaks someone who hates the seme/uke convention with a passion, no matter *what* the genders or orientation of the characters, because it's so artificial and I think it seriously limits story possibilities.)

Dear bohemianfaerie,

Nobody gives a rat's ass what you think about yaoi. Please shut the fuck up.

P.S. It's vaguely possible that if you had posted this rant somewhere appropriate, more people would have been willing to actually discuss it. (Probably not many. But you never know.) However, this is not a debating community. Not is it fandom_rant, or antiyaoi. It's fandom_wank. It's the place to laugh at wank, not make it.

P.P.S. That being said, I thank you for setting yourself up as such an easy target. I haven't laughed this hard in days.

You know, I agree with you on several points. However I guess my thing comes in with the type of yaoi / shounen-ai that I watch/read/rp

In that defense, I usually don't like the guys drawn too femmy. Hell, I am a vitrolent lesbian, I get enough of the girls in my life. When I watch, I'm not thinking of myself quite honestly. I prefer men that -look- like me. (and I've noticed that there is a sad lack of those in the fandom arena)

Gravitation annoys the hell out of me. I will admit for me Fake was a bit better.. being that they didn't look like they were one step from diving into the glitter pot. I tend to like equality.. that is why I shoot the terms "seme" and "uke" to hell and back.

I can understand your dislike for the genre and I will admit that the new breed of fangirls in these day and age (the 15 years and under group usually.. though I know their are exceptions) are all thinking about the guys and like to imagine that they are the uke. Which if you think about it is a new breed of Mary-Suism. (Perhaps a Sub-sect.)

Oh but I ramble, now I'm going to go and watch Orochimaru's tongue wrap around something.. D'oh! *smacks myself* Didn't mean it in that way. *arghs*
