Fucking VOR again! Thought I could get away with avoiding this thread, but I'm going in. (Five pages in two days? People. Come on.)

AWA Pro/Masters, for context, is THE contest. I've heard nothing but fucking AWA from that quarter of my friendslist for three months.

The OP has a really common attitude, though - although he's wrong; I know one editor who isn't known for using AE and apparently made finals in Pro. But people assume stuff like that. Yeah, it's more common for people who do well in contests to use AE, but it's not a requirement. Nail all the other parameters - killer timing, energy, pacing, structure blah blah - and you could probably make it with scissors and scotch tape.

As for VOR? Moron. Do you realize these people have literally watched DOZENS of each other's vids? They know who made what in many cases, apart from newcomers, even without seeing the names. Blind judging is a formality. It's nice that they try, but bitching about it is pointless. It's not the contest's fault that everyone has seen SO much of each other's work before. Hell, I could probably pick out some of these people's work out of a blind pool of possibilities and I'm a random nobody.

This is why it's great to suck. I don't have to worry about any of this bullshit. YAY you're all having fits over AWA. I'm not. Whee.

	The point is that Christine fell in love with him despite his ugliness I'm not a Phantom fan, being forced to sing 'Music of the Night' over and over and OVER again in Junior chorus killed any interest I may have had... 	Welllll, in canon her reasons were never really explained, so fanon holds that she was in love with both of them. She just made the wise lifestyle decision in marrying a rich, sweet young nobleman instead of a crazy, murderous stalker--or was seized by a temporary fit of insanity and ran off with a fop instead of the Tragic Genius, depending on who you ask. But these are Phangirls, they only know the musical and tend to not think about the kick ass torture chamber if they even bothered to read the book.

What seems to be ignored here is that the Phantom was using Christine's love for her father to get to her. He promised he would play her father's violin for her, and since Daae had been buried with his violin, let's use some logic here. The girl had her brain twisted inside out trying to figure out what in the hell was going on. But earth logic has no place when "ooh, he's tortured and genius and pretty except for that icky half of his face" is the driving force.

My first Phantom was prettier than the Raoul. I had issues as far as plot went on that one, but I can drool quietly over the pretty and still not give a shit about Erik because he's a manipulative, self-serving bastard.
