From what I understand part of the not-editing-very-much problem with bestsellers comes because they're hyped so much beforehand that the publishers have to set absolute deadlines for the printing and distribution. Which means that if the author gets the book in late, then the time has to be taken from *somewhere* and it's usually the editing that gets shafted. Post a comment in response: |
