They aren't. I'm not a Rice fan but at least her prose is a WAY better than Hamilton.

I only read that trite for Edward. After a couple of books turns into 'which man Anita will screw this week? And which secret power she will develop to defeat bad guy?'

She's a HUGE Mary Sue, even looks like her creator.
