First wank! Now, this might be slightly off-topic as it doesn't directly relate to a fandom (unless your fandom is, well, cats) but it is wank of the highest degree and I couldn't let it slip by unnoticed.
I'm a member of Kittypix over at LJ. This community is dedicated to posting pictures of your cats and making people squee over the cuteness. Sounds perfectly innocent, right?
The wank began when Raine posted a picture of one of her kids holding a cat. It can be argued that the main focus of this picture is, well, the kid.
People begin arguing about whether or not the post is off topic and should be deleted. Unfortunately most of the wankier comments were apparently deleted by the time I found the post, but quite a few choice morsels remain:

some of us come here to see pictures of CATS, not to listen to some mother go off about how cute her kids are. it is very annoying and totally off-topic...
Right. Since posting a picture which contains both human and feline is 'going off about how cute your kids are.'
i just got upset because i was not expecting to see something like that...
i mean, i don't come here posting pictures of my submissives tied up in a corner while my cat just happens to be watching - even if it IS infinitely amusing to me...
i have that much respect for the community members who might not understand my lifestyle...
i think those who don't care for children deserve the same courtesy of not seeing a photo where the kitty is NOT the main "star"...

If you're going to be all Nazi about it, and not even allow pictures with kitties and others in it..hate to tell you, but about 95% of the pictures that Ive ever seen in here would not be 'allowed'. And plus you arent even the mod. The MOD thank goodness, is much more mature than you are, and doesnt act like that, so why dont you just step aside and let her do her job.

Please give up your cats to someone who does not have children who will abuse them. Maybe you could also work on educating yourself a little.

The mod steps in, telling members "let's not be dramatic." It's a little late for that, methinks.
In that post,tasgenta says that "yesterday reminded me of those militants beheading people." (Shouldn't that be a new intarweb law?), and a few people express varied opinions about asking for money (plz halp mi sik kat.)
Whew. I think that's all for now - but a lot of wank over one small picture!
