Attack of the killer sockpuppet author
The infamous Jeylan is back in Highlander fandom and pissing everyone off (well, almost everyone) with her latest escapade.

Her most recent venture was to post a new story under a new pen name (Lilith) to a couple of Highlander fiction lists. The story, "A Kiss Is Still A Kiss" was well received by most fans and gets positive feedback, including a rec from a really Big Name Fan.

However behind the scenes it seems a few Jeylan-haters, who are holding a grudge from their last run-in with her, had decided that Lilith's e-mail address was too similar to Jeylan's and the IP numbers too close for comfort so they we sure Jeylan and Lilith were one in the same! They decided to bait Lilith on the Duncan_Methos list to try and expose the truth.

Shock and horror! A sock was amongst them! However, Lilith did not take the bait. Very un-Jeylan like behavior. They are puzzled.

Fast-forward to today, Lilith posts a "thank you" note to the ROG-L list to thank everyone for all their wonderful feedback and drops this bombshell:



"My sincere thanks to everyone who wrote, onlist and off, to tell me how much they liked my DM/M story -- "A Kiss is Still a Kiss." I loved writing this story, and I'm very happy to hear how much others enjoyed reading it.

Many people have asked where to find my other fic, but, alas, "Kiss" is my first, and will be my only, HL story. As much as I appreciate the sentiments of all the kind people who have written asking for more, HL fandom, as I think we all realize, is a small pond with several very fucked up fish in it. Those few ruin it for the rest of us.

Methos and Duncan BOTH deserve better than they're getting, in this fandom.

(Hint: Some of these people are so out of touch with reality that they actually mistook "Kiss" for "kinkfic"! Couldn't tell the difference. Can you say, "projection?" Where are these girls' meds?)

So there won't be any more stories from me. In fact, you're lucky *this* one ever saw the light of day. Had I posted it under my real name originally, I think we all realize it would have been flamed to a crisp before anyone ever read it.

But there was never any question about owning it eventually -- it's mine, and I'm proud of it!

OMG1111!!! Jeylan really is Lilith or is Lilith really Jeylan? I am so confused! Mommie, explain it to me?

HL fans are up in arms on the ROG-L list. People take sides. Some say Jeylan had every right to post under a new pen name, that you should judge the story on its merits, not on Jeylan's rep. Others call her sockpuppet escapade basically the end all be all of the universe and the list mods should ban her ass.

The most vocal person is Ev_vy, who on her LJ lets loose:

"Someone posted a story as a sockpuppet. To a couple of lists. People enjoyed the story. Tastes differ. I thought it was bad. Mediocre. Even if the story was good, the person under the sockpuppet identity should be stoned to death. Or should the quality of a fic be enough of an excuse to allow a fucking sockpuppet posts stories to lists? Should banned people be allowed to post as sockpuppets on the condition that their stories are good? Who decides that the story is good enough? Should the readers take a vote? Should the readers with no literary taste whatsoever take a vote and decide that a sockpuppet's story is good enough to be allowed onlist?

I'm sorry if I offend some people who sent me feedback. I don't believe a single word of praise you sent me."

Does this mean that if you take Jeylan's side on list and Ev_vy won't believe you if you send her positive feedback because you are now Jeylan's whore/bitch?

Can it get any wankier or should we all repeat the 8th grade?
