The Something Positive webcomic's livejournal community is a giant pool of wank. These people wank so much that they actually drove away the comic's artist, Randy. It's pretty frightening.

This particular instance begins with Ashley_y posting that Randy's comic that day was just like all the other comics he's ever drawn, and it's getting old.

And all hell breaks loose.

There's even a mini Shakespeare wank too.

I don't follow SP, but I'd just like to know why their community is so poisonously red. *cradles eyes*

I was going to say that I'd seen worse color schemes...but then I blinked and found that the red had burned its way onto my retinas. Now I see red all the time.

Dammit.

If you want horrifying webdesign in terms of color, Japanese fansites can often be used as good examples, too.

Unfortunately, the best example I thought of is decked out for Halloween right now (which is to say black on orange).

I liked limbodog's comment a whole lot:

Armchair quarterbacks are sad.

Armchair cartoonists? Good god, that's a whole new level of pitiful.
Who reads a comic and says "Bah, I woulda done it THIS way?" (well except Family Circus where you would add more violence)
I mean really. Does someone post what they think is a scathing comment about a comic strip and then lean back in their chair and gloat "Ha I got you good you fucker!" ? What's the justification?

this one by padraiceen was good too:
I love you. I really, really do. People like you make me feel really, REALLY good about my life in that, no matter how bad it gets, at least I'm not bitching to the intarweb about free entertainment.

Who reads a comic and says "Bah, I woulda done it THIS way?"

...the entire Illustration department of my school. And the Cartooning department. And the Animation department.

...sorry, critique is sorta pounded into those of us who want to make a living off of this.

Or ya know, they're trying to tell the artist what they liked, and what they thought worked and what didn't.

But I forgot that drawing a webcomic means that you become a God amoung Men and woe be to those who don't the artists ass at every given opportunity.

That made me laugh until I cried. Especially when the entire drama-happy Josh Groban messageboard is obsessed with llamas.

"Furry."

It caused a shitload of drama about a year or so back, to the point that it got its own "Shut the fuck up k thx." comic, and was promptly banned.

from mashiroikaze's reply

People repeat phrases, situations repeat themselves, disenfranchised bus drivers repeatedly hit pedestrians - these are all crucial to life's continuity.

If I were on metaquotes...

Well, okay. It was funny to me.

I have no account here unfortunately, so my apologies for the tangent, but....

Yendi mocks the Anita Blake books. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/yendi/597748.html)

An apparently friend of a friend, Fezabel, who doesn't even know Yendi, comes into his journal to yell at him for being a pretentious snob because he doesn't worship LKH. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/yendi/597748.html?thread=3768820#t3768820) OMG how dare he??? Yendi's friends are bemused.

And then Fezabel sends a friend/sockpuppet, Cariadwyn, in to back her up. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/yendi/597748.html?thread=3791604#t3791604)

Enjoy.

one of them is now posting under some alternate journal. Or at least, that's what the poster claims. They seem to have a better command of the English language, so it may be one of the OP's sycophant. (that's the OP's favourite word.)

But what do I know? I'm just another mindless worshipper at the altar of Jim "yendi" Jones. (d00d, I already drank this koolaid and I'm still thirsty!)

What makes it so wanky is that if you ask the sane half of the LKH fans, they'll say "yeah, she's formulaic. So what?" There is absolutely nothing wrong with indulging in the literary equivalent of junk food sometimes. it's when you start to mistake the fruit-flavoured candy for the fruit that you have a problem.
