Seeing her (or him, or whatever) behave like an utter twat is what'll stop me from reading her fics, not there being links to other things in a side bar. I mean, if I am at an author page, I'm there because I want to read the fic. I'm not there because I want to look at fanart or participate in a discussion. Having those links there will not stop me reading the fic in question.

I swear, if it had been up to me, I'd have been hammering the 'ban' button by the end of page one...

While aerynalexander might have phrased her complaint better and some of the mods might have phrased their replies better, I was glad to see that it's possible to have a heated debate in HP fandom these days and not get wankily banned by childish (usually teens or close enough) mods. I think there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for online HP fen! I have some sympathies for both sides in this one, by the way.

Th author area is the biggest thing on the page, the ads are a couple of little boxes way down at the bottom, and shes just pissed for sharing the page and not being the STAR. Mods are right. Thing is, I lap it up laughing because I agree with the OP's opinions of FAP's design. I think it sucks. It's been teh ugly since they changed from the one with Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley. I think it's really hideous.

However, since I don't like it, I don't go there. It's a pretty simple concept, really. It works beautifully.

Pity the OP doesn't seem to grasp it.

I am a full time graduate student. You tell me if you think I have the time to learn html and design a website.

Bitch, please. I learned enough HTML in one afternoon to design a website, and that was back when I was in high school. Granted, it was a crappy website, but you learn as you go. Hence why my personal site went through about five redesigns until I was happy with it. And I do all my coding myself; that's not even mentioning Dreamweaver or any other build-a-website-in-five-minutes software that's out there.

Bottom line: full time graduate student or no (and ooh, I'm so impressed), if you have the time to write frickin' fanfic, you have the time to learn enough HTML to slap your stories up on your own personal page.

Of course, it won't look nearly as nice as the author pages as FAP. (Ooh! Burn!)
