"Let me post a random comment that may or may not be meant offensively! That'll get me fans!"
Mainly politiwank, but I thought it deserved to be on F_W anyway, since it's the Sore Thumbs fandom. I can move it if you think I should.

Sore Thumbs is a fairly new political gaming comic. The creators of it, Chris Crosby and Owen Gieni, have a blog at the bottom of the Sore Thumbs front page, which they update every once in a while with links to anti-Bush articles and Sore Thumbs' reviews.

The problems began when they decided to allow comments.

On October 15, 2004, Chris Crosby posts a comment with the subject line "(Not that there's anything wrong with that)". The content of the post in its entirety:

"BUSH IS GAY."

Now, he's jokingly alluded to the president's sexual orientation before, but people feel that this has crossed the line. There is a rush of comments that say everything from "It's not nice to say such mean things about gays" to "This year, I'm proud NOT to vote " to "Bush is a Dick. And Kerry is a Pussy" to the simply put "No, he's not".

But at least it includes puppies and monkeys!

Political gaming comic? That's asking for the spooge. PA gets enough wank and they don't even touch that realm.

I thought comics were supposed to be, ya know, funny, not a vaguely disguised soapbox for the creators political beliefs.

Yeah but those actually manage to be funny AND political. It is possible to blend the two.

librials are easy to minupulate just tell them somethings wrong and thay jump to fix it not stoping to think it might not be broken and soporting things like afirmative action and gun countrool
and protesting good things like nukler power (nukes are verry safe and you are more likly to get canser in a cloal mine than a nuke plant)

Gun countrool is my new favourite librial cause.

Tell that to 3 Mile Island and Chernyble O__o And I can't spell that. Its Russian!

I for one would like to soport anything, as it sounds like something one does to a French pastry.

Chernobyl. :)

(I was a nerdy kid at the time of Chernobyl, what can I say.)

Mmmm, soport. Yes, has the sound of something light and fluffy and utterly calory-laden.

Indeed. Eight out of ten residents in Chernobyl give nuclear power two thumbs up!

The best comment is the one that almost directly quotes Team America: World Police.

But that whole "Texas = homophobia" thing is really getting to me. Austin, TX is second only to San Francisco in its gay population per capita. Everyone down here is far more progressive than you think. But the only people who are liberal anymore are usually in college.

What? I thought Asheville, NC was second in the nation for homosexuals in the country per capita in the country after LA.

As of the 2003, Austin was. Per capita. Maybe that changed for 2004. I dunno.

Some of the most closed-minded I've met were in college (I'm talking about both left and right wingers). One of the most homophobic people I've met was "liberal" (and in college). (And one of the most conservative people I've met was gay, go fig.)

Anyway, the moral of this post is, just because you have a degree does not mean your not ignorant.

(Yeah, I know you said 'usually', I'm just saying...)

Oh, I know.

The ignorant ones are a great percentage of the students running around on campuses--from both the left and the right.

I guess it takes a few years for "I should look at the alternative viewpoint" to sink in. It doesn't help when people are belittled immediately for not agreeing with them. (Although where I go to school, the Republicans group has given up even trying to recruit when the Democrats group is around. The Democrats' verbal harrassment is intense.)

I know it does.

Some people are Democrats; some people are Republicans; some are independent.

But most everyone, deep down inside, has an Inner Moron that's just aching to get out. >3

Politiwank is so amusing. Because it makes everyone look like they're on the intellectual level of a six-year-old, even if you so happen to agree with them.
