Final Fantasy spinoff-wank
First post here, although I'm a long-time lurker. Hi.
Apparently a new sequel/spinoff to Final Fantasy VII is being released, called "Dirge of Cerberus," with Vincent as the main character. I was midly interested, as FF7 is one of my favorite games, so I made the mistake of checking out the GameFAQs message board for it.
One of the topics on the first page is titled Do you think Vincent will have a male love interest? (which immediately sets off warning signals in my head). A few replies are from people liking the idea, but in comes Anthraxdude88, who is "grossed out" by the idea of his beloved Vincent being gay.
More people join in, for about 15 pages, but some of my favorite lines
Anthraxdude88: Yes, approx. half of Sqaure's gamers are straight/anti-gay.
Christian C: So you think everyone should be as you want them to be?
Anthraxdude88: No, but I think my favorite video game character should be the way I want it to be.
vtec0wnzU: god thats like the worst thing they could do in a ff game it reminds me of the time when i went into that club in the slums when i was trying 2 get all the grly clothes 4 cloud and i took a bath with a whole lot of guys....think of that...but with better graphics...
ya not all gay guys r grly have u seen the real world latley that 1 black guy is g@y
VoidSeacrest: And why in the hell would any guy want to be anything but heterosexual when theres women in this world... hell, if it wasn't for the fact that there had to be heterosexuals for the human race to go on, I wouldn't understand why even women would want men... -_-;;
Dragonic Darkness: WTF!!!!! Dammit!!! How can you take such a cool character and turn him into a frootloop!!! It's sick!! Plain sick!!!!
At some point the topic drifts over to people claiming the FF7 women as theirs, and the "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" quote is invoked. Herds of defensive fanboys come in to let everyone know that no way is "badass Vincent" gay. Someone mentions that straight people being "exposed to gay characters" is wrong, and games with hot gay action should come with a warning. I imagine they would like a big yellow one, similar to those caution: radiation! signs.
