Snapple_monkey (of "I'm looking for a hott gamer girl" fame) asks the members of girl_gamers

I don't get it.....
Why is all I here from any gamer (with the exeption of a few) is GTA this GTA that? What makes it such a great game? Since we are a society so fond of representations, what makes killing someone in a video game any less inhumane then killing someone in real life? Why is killing people so much fun to everyone? Same thing with friggin DDR, fuck if I wanted to have some fun dancing...I would just stand my ass up and dance, and call me crazy but I don't think you need a video game to do it. I'm not saying that anyones opinions are wrong or bad. I'm not saying go out and kill someone in real life as opposed to buying a copy of GTA. I just wanna understand.....so please help me....

People weigh in on the issue, and everything is peachy. Then things take a turn for the weird.

Video game characters have feelings and we are video game characters in someone's game but book characters don't have feelings cause they're not run by computers and animals arent sentient they're just like video game characters even though I just said video game characters were sentient!!!!!1111188

I've argued with people like this before. It's infuriatingly hilarious. Logic doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter what you say to them, they'll just keep comin' at you, no matter how much you're kicking their ass, because they're too dumb to even realize what's going on. Beautiful.

Someone made a good point that it seems like he just finished Kindgom Hearts, which is full of so much feel-good pseudo-intellectualism you could choke a horse. While I'm not a GTA fan, and I've always been mildly disturbed by people who, for example, find it amusing to kill the scientists in Half-Life, I find this argument a world of silly. I mean, it's find it silly or feel a world of guilt over all the Koopa Troopas I killed in eighth grade. Poor turtlethings! And they look so *worried*, too--okay, definite second thoughts here.


Boss Bass, on the other hand, I would slaughter again and again in the most brutal fashion possible. I regret only that he keeps *fucking coming back to life*. Goddamn fish.

Someone has an unrequited crush on a video game hottie. And on the other hand, I'm all like "Whoa, that's a load off of my mind - I was worried Eileen didn't *really* like me. Nice to know that video game characters are sentient and with feelings and stuff."
