Harry/Draco: Angsty or Whiny? You decide.
rebawitch posts three loooong chapters of a (pretty darn bad) story in a row, without an LJ cut, to harrydraco.

People complain about the lack of cut and the story.

Then, crikkita thinks the mod has left the buiding, and makes two posts telling people to be nice and that they need to find a new mod.

The actual mod is not amused. But it wouldn't be an official wank without wankstar. *waves*

In all fairness, though, I can appreciate that crikkita was willing to do something. Maybe that post only represented people who were fairly new to the group, but she wasn't the only one concerned about an MIA moderator. Plus, it's not like the one public post on tommystone's journal lends itself to an assumption of extreme interest in the general public.

Still, I think I might have asked around a bit more before assuming the mod was disinterested or had disappeared. But that's just me.

Why do the characters in most college!fics do nothing but have wild sex all the time? Gosh, I must be the only fic writer who hasn't had a single orgy since starting college. I guess I'm really missing out. :P

Also, the writer refers to female students as "coeds". ARRGH MUST KILL.

I wouldn't assume anything until they'd been MIA a lot longer than the ten hours it was before she showed up. Ten hours is sleep, a shower and a cup of coffee. Or work plus travelling time. (Hell, I'll sleep twelve hours if I think I can get away with it.) If this is a continuing problem, a polite suggestion that she enlist a deputy or two who live in different timezones or work different hours might have been more reasonable. I'd guess that a suggestion like that wouldn't go over so well at this stage.

But it's not like they were being deluged with spammed death threats if they didn't give their bank account details to the Nigerian Grand Vizier or a continuing flamewar of people arguing over pomeranians. It was one stupid poster. If they just couldn't stand to look at it they could have sent the mod an email and filtered out the community until the next morning.

Anyway, there's a bit of a gap between saying 'hey, get your act together and do some modding' and campaigning for a replacement and the best way to make the lj admins hand over ownership. If it had been a week, okay. But after four hours? Yeah, you went out to lunch so we declared you legally dead.

So, what were we supposed to assume from the mod's GOODBYE LOSERS post? It sort of sounds like she was bidding us farewell in a rather insulting manner. But I could be reading into it too much.

They're all being a bit polite, aren't they? There's flame-baiting, but it's all so apologetic and calm. Still, the situation is in itself pretty wanky. Expecting a mod to react on the dot, assuming the mod is gone, mod getting very pissed.

I epected to be sympathetic towards the mod. Then I read the comments s/her left... Sure, you can't be on all the time, but if you don't even have the comm on your flist, so you're mostly unaware of what's happening on it... You're the mod! People shouldn't have to tell you when it's time to do your job.

Just for the record, I only thought the mod was gone bc someone said that was the case, and when I went to her journal to investigate, all I found was one "Goodbye Losers" post, from July - and replied to that post, just to be safe. And then I totally jumped the gun. I said "let's wait a day or two," and then promptly didn't. My bad. But it wasn't only the lack of modding that made me think the mod was gone. In fact, I didn't really care about the lack of modding, just the bad feelings flying around. That's all.

I'm over it, though. I posted smut (http://www.livejournal.com/community/harrydraco/395643.html) and moved on. I just thought I'd mention, FWIW, that I'm not usually a big, self-important jerk. And I think it's sort of funny to see it discussed here now. :-)
