Small Sims 2 wank
Over on thesims2 community midnightwishes poses a seemingly harmless question asking if anyone else gets all "mushy" when their Sims have babies.

A couple people respond nicely enough until the_faery_queen goes all OMG! No way, I'm childfree!

midnightwishes tries the "some like kids, some don't, yay for diversity" tack, but TFQ is having none of that because You implied all women want to be mothers! and lest she be pissed off about only one stupid thing, she's also pissed that the OP didn't include men in her original question.

After some back and forth, a mod steps in to shut down the drama. Short, but amusing.

Thank you for making us look like complete raving lunatics. As a childfree individual, I often face harsh criticism, the assumption that I must be self absorbed and irrational, and that I'm somehow less normal than the rest of the population. By biting someone's head off over a computer game, I'm sure you'll convince the world that we're not all insane, irrational people. Thanks for doing your part. Oh, and I'm never sarcastic.

While I'm not completely childfree (I used to want to adopt very badly, though the desire is cooling as I get older), I get enough criticism for being a selfish bitch without actual selfish bitches (geez, who the hell is so anal that they can't let others enjoy a damn video game?) giving credence to the charge.

I'm CF, too, and my Sims breed like rabbits. Tt's kind of fun trying to breed for certain genetic traits--almost as fun as killing Sims in highly inventive ways.

You know, it's really funny-- I never wanted kids until I was, like, 25, I have plenty of childfree friends, have had family members who struggled with fertility-- so I hate society's continuing insistence that OMG YOU MUST HAVE CHILDREN OR YOU'RE WORTHLESS.

I continue to be baffled byt his "child-free" stuff. When did it become some sort of martry movement? Adults have been exercizing their right to not have children for centuries. The social attitude in people of my generation is a career over family, but maybe I just hang out with way too many ambitious people.

You don't like kids. Good. If you want people to respect that you chose not to have children, you should learn to respect that they indeed did choose to bear progeny. People with children are still people.

What is with wankers and willfully misunderstanding getting overwrought about simple concepts?

Some women want to have children. Some women don't. Society expects us to want children, which is a stereotype and therefore a Bad Thing. It is, however, true that many women want children. We know this because if all women did not want children, then the survival of the human race would be dependent on unwanted pregnancies.

In conclusion: Many women want children once they reach a certain age. Saying so does not equal OMG OPRESSION!

Jeepers McFuck. Faery-Bitch, you are making my affiliation look stuuupid. I'm childfree, loathe irresponsible parents etc, but it's a fucking GAME! Bloody hell, one of my Sim families has about six kids, maybe they're too compatible or something.. It'd be a bit boring if, in the non-real world of The Sims, I made all my characters act like me, what would be the point? Instead of spending thirty quid on a game I could sit and be myself all day for free.

Yeah, the CF chick was overreacting, but I'm always creeped out by people who are so obsessed with reproducing that the slightest reference to babies/children turns them into a puddle. Especially since the majority of people who seem to have this issue are teenage girls.

I'm sure it's wanky of me, but the idea that there are women my age (or even younger than me) who already want to start popping sprogs gives me the shivers. Do they just have too much free time or something?

I haven't played the Sims, but I play Pokemon, and I squealed like a teenybopper when my Torchic started having eggs. Doesn't mean I want a kid of my own (however, I wouldn't mind having a Torchic, but still), just that I find this virtual being cute.
