Current music:Poor little grammar-less yaoi girl....

Such wank my roommate brings me...
Sitting around, watching my roommate read her LJ friend's page today, we found this happy little LJ entry.
Just... whoa. I'm feelin' some sweet, sweet lovin' all the way over here.

Apparently, some girl on one of the lists that the friend visits posted complaining that she can't go to YaoiCon because she's - you got it - underaged! And this girl writes and draws gay porn! Whee!
Curious, I went looking high and low on LJ for the source of this bitchfest, and came up empty-handed. So I decided to look on Yahoo!Groups, and *look* what I came up with!

A two page long sob story about not being able to go to YaoiCon because she has work and is underaged and how much she loves yaoi and how sad it is that her friends gave up their Yaoi Dreams and became *ick* straight and the best part is... it's all one huge sentence!

My only source of sadness is that people haven't replied to it at all. (yet) *sniffles* So sad that Cinderella can't go to the ball. ;_;

My God, that girl is whiny...

I blame all those fanfics/webpages/LJs where the writers abuse the use of punctuation. Especially those that abuse the ellipses. I kept telling them they'd cause a shortage of the damn things, but would they listen to me? NO.

I've been encouraged by a friend to write a nice little children's tale about punctuation that got neglected for years, became bitter and anti-social, and then went on a rampage one day.

Though I admit to being something of an ellipse-abuser.

I vote someone explains to her the difference between a "." and a "," because while many can see i'm not great at getting it all right- her level is somewhere on the ridiculously hard to read. I particularily enjoy her singular use of capitalization.

it also might explain that many little fans have gave up on their yaoi dreams and then turn out to be straight and boring (heck just how their freakish parents want em to be)

Next week, on Montel: I gave up my yaoi dreams, and now I'm straight!

She's a wanker, but honestly? I don't get the freakout in the first link over *gasp!* an underage kid reading/writing/drawing porn. I mean, if fandom has taught us nothing else, surely it has taught us that porn is THE anti-drug. ;)

...says she who once modded a ficlist with an age restriction (though I maintain it was just a cheap and dirty way to keep out the annoying lil' pests).

No, I don't get that part, either. I mean, yeah, it's kinda *dumb* for her to be announcing to a group comprised of several yaoi writers that she *is* underaged and has been reading their work...

...but it's not like the cops are gonna come breakin' down any one of their doors over some little snot reading their 1x2 luuuv fics. Vowing undying vengeance against the girl because she was dumb enough to announce she's underage is a *bit* much in my book. I also like how she's going to comb through her other lists just so she can kick the whiny bint out for being underage.

Personally, I thought the rant about the girl was just as funny as the post on the Yahoo!Group itself was. ^^ But for completely different reasons.

*SNERK*

But man, that girl could use a good little bitchslap for her "straight is boring" comment. Either that, or someone needs to tell her: "You're right. I can only wish your parents had realized this too instead of going ahead and procreating you."

I'm not sure she meant straight as in heterosexual. Sounds more like straight as in "close-minded middle Americans who only do it in bed with the lights off." As opposed to the Mountain Dew sex involving whips and chains and leather objects of uncertain purpose that all the yaoi fans are having right this second.

As for "giving up on your yaoi dreams," I have no idea what that means. I guess her friends stopped trying to lure the boys at school into threesomes only to duck out and leave them with each other.

My question is, if she's too young to go to YaoiCon, why is *she* working to put a 'shelter over her back'? Where are her parents? Whiny teenager. Pfeh.

And, yeah - we need Yaoi Capitalism now! There's nothing like competition to keep the open Yaoi Markets healthy! No one wants state sponsered yaoi - I don't like the government telling me that I have to like bland old 1x2 or RanKen pairings!

Down with the oppressor man! Up with freaky pairings! Fight the communist scum - support NCS Gojyo/Goku and Schu/Aya!

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm replying a lot. I blame the n00b enthusiasm. Not to mention that these last two wanks were related to anime/game fandom, so it's just irresistible.

Anyway, I now feel the urge to directly address this girl's whining in the form of an open letter.

Dear Whiney-chan,

Look, you're not going to die because you missed out on Yaoi-Con again. It's really not that big a deal:

The dealers room? You can get most of that stuff online pretty easily if you search.

The interview panels with manga-ka and "experts" in anime? That's a bit harder to replace, but you can find interviews with most of them online and/or in print.

The games? They're something you can pull off by yourself and your friends, if you take the time to do a little planning.

Meeting people? Look, I've only known one other shounen-ai fan in my area, and I've never been able to meet her in person as she's underaged, lived way on the other end of the island (and I know little about driving around outside of the capital/metro area), and is now moving to the US. Did I lose sleep over it? No.

Besides, while there's going to be a few really cool people about, the majority of the people there are more than likely going to be all the different BNFs and their strings of mindless posses. Starting with the Aestheticism people responsible for the con themselves. I mean, the level of wankery you're likely going to find there is going to be so bad that it's going to be hilarious and entertaining and pants-shitting funny and--

I thought it was a very Zen moment. You know, to truly understand the Yaoi, one must BE the Yaoi. And one day, we will all return to the Great Circle of Yaoi. Or something.
