Teeny Ghostbusters comic wank. Starts near the end of page 1, ends at the end of page 2.

"This comic is full of errors because it makes spelling errors and modern day jokes!" "It's a time shift, you moron. Didn't you talk the book over with your writer friend?" "I'm too nice to take advantage of him like that!"

Bitch please.

"Also, this comic is written in the Americanized version of the English language."

WTF? If it's set in New York, of course it'd use US English.

Although I agree that the "per say" thing is a valid point. I have a couple of friends with lousy spelling and it makes me cringe. A professional publication shouldn't have errors like that. But it's hardly worth a bilious rant

(nods) I agree on the "per say" thing, though in the publisher's defense, I've caught many a typo in other professionally published works. But then again, I assume this is an American-style comic book... couldn't be more than 48 pages, right?

BTW, who's publishing these new Ghostbusters comics? Back when I was a hardcore Ghostbusters fan, the comics were published by Now and were usually quite good.

I've seen some hideous typos in 48-page comics. And manga. And novels. And...typos are live. The 'per say' is annoying but certainly not a deal-breaker.

The timeshift thing...is...odd.

I've read the sentence 'typos are live' four times and I'm still not entirely sure what I meant. I think 'typos are part of life.' I think.

I think they were saying they made that decision because otherwise all the Ghostbusters would be in their 50s at the time of the comic. At least this way, they don't have to try and make jokes about the 80s only a few hardcore folk would get.

Yeah, but like The Wedding Singer used that kind of stuff pretty cleverly. I mean, I'm not going to get upset about it or anything, it just struck me as ood.

It doesn't strike me as being odd, since it is a comic. Like somebody on the thread mentioned, they do it all the time in comics like Spider-Man.

This is sad. I remember seeing the 'per say' thing on my first read-through, and now I can't find it at all... But iirc, Venkman's saying it, and to me, that fit his character perfectly. So. *shrug*

Probably because he dared to nitpick on the ONE TRUE ITEM THAT WILL REVIVE THE FANDOM AND LEAD ITS FOLLOWERS TO GLORY ZOMG!

...Yeah, they're pretty wanky too.

Never underestimate the small (or in some cases not so small) portion of fans in every fandom who see it as their sacred duty to defend their fandom's honor against anyone who would DARE to point out the flaws that every film/show/book/anime/whatever has whether that pointing out is meant as harsh or not malign the fandom's sacred name.

Because, you know, people are only allowed to say good things about fandoms.

I've run into this with a friend who believes that every single word Terry Pratchett has ever written is gold, and that writers slave over books until Every. Single. Word. Is. Perfect and that the book as it is released is the exact way the writer was intending it and that to criticize it shows my ignorance because I can't see what the writer was intending.

Said friend wants to be a professional writer but hasn't finished anything in almost a decade, from what I understand. Gee, I wonder why. He also wants to write for my webcomic, but I refuse to work with anyone who looks like they can't take me editing them.

(And while I love Pratchett, he does have good books and not-so-good books, although everyone differs on which they think are which.)

Suddenly, Porthos references his "really cool Studebaker".

Bwa! That so needs to be an icon. I get the OP, though. Errors like that "per say" business make me foam at the mouth myself. It's right up there with "irregardless" for me.

Actually, the odd thing is that the company must have fixed the error in later issues, because the one instance I saw of "per se" in my issue 3 was spelled just fine.

Dragomorph

Ah, ret-conn. They used to do that with Buffy, Angel and Xena all the time. *nod* Glaring plot-holes galore! Yet WE SAW NOTHING. :)

When I FINALLY get the other three books in the series (dumbass me for ordering them and not paying extra to have them shipped as they come in) I plan to just use a little white-out to fix the whole "per say" thing. Otherwise it'll drive me nutty. But see, unlike the person bitching, I plan to DO something about it--but maybe just email the writers and give them a good tongue-lashing for not having a better proofreader. Like me. ;)

Of course, I've just been waiting for them to come into the comic shops myself.

Erm, anyway...there's still a Ghostbuster's fandom active? Wicked.
