Accidents of Birth
Well, it looks the Countess has a cousin. Another poster on IMDb claims to be a descendant of a famous person, in this case, T.E. Lawrence.

The amusement level of this discussion comes not from the OP, but from mdl5000 who keeps wanking with longer and longer posts telling oh_grand_whitey why he can't possibly be related to Lawrence.

And, of course, this wank wouldn't be complete without an Alexander the Great reference.

Yeah.

How come no one lists the lame people they're related to? I bet we're all related to a bunch of really asstastic people besides our immediate families, I mean.

Also, I bet that any one person could be related to any other one person, just because the world is big and busy and has grown at a pretty rapid pace. I bet I could say I was related to Jim The Brother of Jesus and be right, just because of marriage and all that.

How about being related to someone semi-famous still alive?

See, I'm supposedly related to Gordon Pinsent, most folks don't even know who he is, but he's my dad's cousin or something like that. I'm not entirely sure. Dad told me once, but it was a while before I even remembered the sort of famous actor who I'm related to.

Otherwise my ancestry includes a bunch of Welsh shipwrights, an Indian chief of no fame, some Irish peasants, some Norweigan royalty - bastard children of course, and a German sailor who happened to accidentally end up in North America. :P

My life is complete now and I can rest on their laurels and call it a day. I mean, who gives a rat's arse what I do given my esteemed lineage of a bunch of working schmoes whose contributions to the world was to reporduce (probably excessively too).

(Actually, I AM very interested in my family history and I actually do find the "little people" more intersting than the famous. The story aobut my Great Granny and her love for a man from little means caused her to abandon wealth and an easy life is one of the most awesome stories my family has to offer)

The irony is, I have met several people in my life who are related to someone famous and dead, and they don't know everything about them either. They just know the family tradition that they are related to XX. What's so awful about that?
