Sweet-smelling Wank!
Ah, for once a post that doesn't reek with the stench of ripe wank. No, no. This one offers up its What-The-Shit in All New Minty Freshness.

Buffy soap baskets for sale - with a musical episode theme!

Buffy's Make Me Feel I'm Alive bubble gum lip balm
Spike's Rest In Peace spiced oatmeal soap
Dawn's I Stole This peach soap
Tara's I'm Cured I Want the Boys lemon lotion

What? No Joss Whedon's Like Jesus, In A Way loofahs?

Wow. I am in awe. Or possible rendered mute with horror.

How exactly does "Rest In Peace" equal oatmeal soap? 'cause I'm trying to figure it out and...no.

Spike + oatmeal = both pale and crunchy? Shit, I don't know.

The sweet smell of a shameless cash-in.

Maybe there's connections I'm not seeing, because Tara's raised a 'snerk', but for all the rest I'm drawing a blank...

I'm not a Buffy fan at all, but I did snicker at the Tara one because I've been told about the lesbian bit in the series.

Perhaps the Willow one is a ref to all the crazy drama stuff that a friend of mine (who is a fan) has sometimes mentioned to me in passing?

The Tara one had me laughing, though I don't think it was intentional on their part. Something tells me they have not the wit.

I don't get the references either - but it still got a 'oh my fucking god' from me. Then the cackling started.

They're all lyrics/quotes from the musical episode of Buffy, but the connection between the names and the scents/flavours is beyond my comprehension...

Jigga wuh? I get the references for the names of the products, but I'm still stuck on the oatmeal soap/Rest in Peace connection. ...I'm thinking too hard about this, aren't I?

The real reason for this reply: your icon? Rules. I laughed for about five minutes (possibly because I just got up).

OMGWTF.

Seriously. I say this is abuse of capitalism.

Isn't it also, like, illegal? Seeing as they're selling it, as opposed to just putting it there specially for people to point and laugh at?

(I know, I know, there's no wank like copyright wank. I blame the drugs--er, cold medicine.)

She also posted it on buffy icons too, but it looks like the admins deleted it!

Nah, it's still there. What's being sold doesn't really bother me (silly sounding, but she does have some nice products -- there's a recreation of Tara's "extra-flamey" candle, fir instance)-- but the OT posting to Buffy_icons, which gets quite enough on-topic posting as it is, was annoying.

Exactly. Her stuff, while not the most brilliant idea ever, isn't really offensive. It simply doesn't even masquerade as being on-topic.

Le Sigh.

I found this rather amusing because (having missed all but the first twenty minutes of this episode) originally I thought Dawn's song was "I stole this peach". ::Needs her glasses to see italics at 4:30am::
