Fear the CAPS LOCK of rage.....
I knew, with the release of the first teaser trailer, things were going to get ugly over on the IMDB boards for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. IMDB user llutsic4 doesn't disappoint. He decides to tell people, loudly and rudely, just how much this movie sucks compared to the original. Not just once, but two, three, and four times. All the same speech, delivered via the caps lock of rage, in four seperate threads. People are becoming annoyed and tell him where he can get off. Its young yet (only a couple hours old), but the entire board there looks to be a breeding ground of splooge-waiting-to-happen (which is not really saying much, as it IS IMDB).

Yanno, as much of a fangirl of the original movie as I am, I've still got high hopes for this version, since it's Burton and Depp. So I'm not gonna knock it until I've actually seen the thing to judge.

I usually like to, you know, watch the entire movie before making up my mind about it. Although the Willy Wonka song in the background did kind of freak me out.

How much are we willing to be that this guy hasn't the faintest clue that both movies are based off of a BOOK.  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory isn't so much of a remake as it is a second adaptation.  And for someone raising so much sound and fury over watching something before passing judgment, maybe he should wait to see the entire movie before throwing in his caps-locked Opinion of DOOM.

P.S. - Depp is extremely creepy and not-very-Deppish in the trailer.  I still want his red coat.

I really wish people would stop insisting this was a remake of a film.

It's no more a remake of a film (or at least I hope it's not) than Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings was a remake of that horrid Bakshi animated version.

*whaps people over the head with the library*

Of course, as someone who loved the book but hated the Gene Wilder version... I'm all for it.

I haven't seen the first movie, but I read the book about a couple years ago, when I went in a rampage of reading/buying children books.
Since it's not very popular in my country, you can say that I found it out of mere luck.

I remember the book being a little creepy :P
I'll search for it to re-read it before they release the movie here.

ROFLMAO. I LOVE trailer wank. Being a Star Wars and FFVII fangirl, I've gotten my fill of late, though, I think.
I never understood how people can base their opinions of a movie (except for the better) off of a brief clip of it. Besides that the original movie still scares the bleep out of me, and my father loves it, and hence turns it on every time it's on tv...

Will somebody please think of the Oompa Loompas?

What I can't figure out is why he kept watching the trailer if it sucked so much. Was he being held hostage by an insane attacker who was holding a gun to his head to make him watch it repeatedly? Did someone chain him to his computer chair and set it on contious loop? Was he momentarily trapped on a deserted island with the trailer as his only source of entertainment? Or is he just a loony?

Incidently, whenever I see someone TYPING LIKE THIS I always want to ask them to please stop shouting at me.

Huh. Who knew something involving chocolate could inspire that much rage?

Personally, I'm excited as hell for this movie - I adore the book, and while I like the Gene Wilder version well enough, IMHO it isn't the book. The atmosphere is all wrong. So, you know - Johnny Depp + Tim Burton + Charlie and the Chocolate factory = happy Linzee.

Though I have to admit, I'm slightly disturbed by how pretty Johnny Depp looks, even with the off-colored face makeup and outfits of doom. I'm going to be perving over Willy Wonka. I can see it now.

I am so shamed.

I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF REMAKES IN MY TIME BUT THIS MUST BE THE WORST REMAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Oh, so you've seen the movie, already, doof? Not to mention I believe that it was supposed to be anything other than a remake because so many people were disappointed in the first Charlie movie.

IM JUST SO UNHAPPY RIGHT NOW I COULD SCREAM.

Well, your caps lock is having about the same visual effect on my eyes. Ow.

HOW COULD TIM NBURTON MAKE A MOCKERY OF THIS MOVIE. USING STUPID A** LINES LIKE, "LETS BOOGIE" OR "CHEWING GUM IS REALLY GROSS, CHEWING GUM I HATE THE MOST".

I don't know about the former, but the latter seems quite in the spirit of the books as I recall them.

MY GOD I HATE THIS MOVIE.

OMG, you have seen the movie?!

BECAUSE WWCF WAS A GREAT/EXCELLENT CLASSIC, AND YOU CANT DESTROY A CLASSIC UNLESS THE REMAKE IS MORE WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL!

Again, talking like you've actually seen it. Also, is it just me, or does it seem as though this person doesn't quite realize that it was based on a _book_ first. Dahl wrote a _book_, not a movie script.

MY ADVICE IS, WATCH THE DA*M ORIGINAL BEFORE YOU WATCH THE TRAILER! THEN PASS JUDGEMENT.

My advice is watch the damn movie.

BECAUSE WWCF WAS A GREAT/EXCELLENT CLASSIC, AND YOU CANT DESTROY A CLASSIC UNLESS THE REMAKE IS MORE WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL!

1. I didn't know that remaking a film could wipe out all existence of the original!

2. He thinks the first one was a "classic"? I wonder how he'd scream if, say, David Lynch did a remake of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

and

3. Dude, it's "worse". Just "worse". "More worse" makes you sound like a monkey.

So we're getting something that involves Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, and people are whining instead of pissing their pants with joy? What a crazy world. o_O

I heard about this remake a while back, and since I'm such a big fan of the original movie, I was less than thrilled about it.

But I still think it'll be interesting to see it and compare the two, and I still think that Depp is bloody brilliant in creative roles like this.
