First-time wanker -- please be kind!

So the Golden Globe nominations are out, and Kiefer Sutherland has not been nominated for his role on "24."

Some fans on the Fox 24 board gnash their teeth, woe! He wuz robbed! How can they overlook the bestest thing on television EVA?! Others venture the opinion that perhaps the competition deserved the nominations more. They encourage Sutherland supporters to check out other shows before they jump to conclusions.

The reaction? How dare anyone come to the 24 board and offer anything but unmitigated praise!

Either way, stating that other shows and actors are better and more deserving of nominations and awards is just going to piss them off. It's not going to get people to say "Oh, okay. I see your point. 24 isn't the best. I'll stop worshipping it." Do you not see that? All your doing here is pissing people off and starting arguments. So please just stop already. No one's just going to all of a sudden agree with you.

If you think shows are better than 24 then whatever, just state those opinions on THOSE show's forums. There's no reason to do it here, unless you feel like angering people.

Sorry, I feel there are other actors in television and shows worth receiving merit. That's a crime because one of those shows isn't 24? Since when did you become the super-fan? If you can't recognize that other actors on OTHER SHOWS (there's that pesky reality again) deserve some credit and recognition, then I don't care what you have to say.

Then again I'm just a pathetic anti-fan, a 24-basher, a Bauer-has-been who just wants to start sh!t. I'm on this forum 'cuz I love this show and I care about it, not the other way around.

That's right, folks. Critics of 24 are now the equivalent to anti-war protesters. Cells at Guantanamo are being readied at this very moment.

	Basically its a show that takes place in real time. One hour on screen is an hour that viewers see. As an example, one episode of the show takes place from seven in the morning to eight in the morning. That's all in one hour. No cuts to skip over seconds or minutes or whatever. One hour. 	I guess he's doing that in the 15 minutes and something seconds that aren't included in the "one hour". (On the station they broadcast it in my country, shows are not interrupted by commersials so an hour of 24 lasts approximately 45 min. The show loses some credibility like that.) Word, and I've been a fan of his since I was 12. Yeah, it sucks that he didn't get nominated, but given how many shows out there have great performances, how do you squeeze all the ones you want into a limited number of spots? It doesn't mean he sucked, just that not enough members of the Foreign Press Association nominated him. Big whoop.

*shrug* He's got his Golden Globe from the first season, and that's enough for me.

The 24um is a breeding ground of wank. There was once a 500+ topic on why Jack (Kiefer's character) cried at the end of the show that was full of wank.

Recently, there was a thread w/300 posts entitled with someone getting into a fight with Kieferette who claimed that the writing in S3 did not suck. It devolved into one of them calling the other "arrogant" and "crazy".

That second one was actually pretty good - a little dated but amusing. I should try to find it.

Basically go into the 24um and open any post with more than 100 posts and ye shall find wank.

I've had a morbid fascination with that forum for a loooong time now. The best wank has come from the multiple flamewars where various forum regulars accuse each other of being stalkers/setcrashers. Unfortunately, those posts/threads get deleted so fast I've never been quick enough to post links here.

Then there are the non-wanky but still very strange threads in the off-topic folder. Like the "counting" thread, where all people do is count off how many posts the thread has. They're past 6000 now....

Yeah, those are great but like you said - are gone quickly.

What tends to stay around are the wanks where one person is accused of the horrible crime of hating the show/Jack Bauer/both and then madness ensues.

Or the spoiler fights. There were also quite a few political fights in the OT threads a month ago.
