I couldn't resist. Insert something witty about this being my first wank here, kay?

It's tiny -- itty bitty, but it's Harry Potter.

I sometimes flit about the HP sorting communities because I find that sort of thing amusing interesting.  The community in question, hogwartsishomehogwartsishome, pretty much sorts all us ordinary muggles into houses by voting on applications of new members. Or something along those lines.  Apparently the Gryffindor people decided to play a little prank on the Slytherins.  No harm intended and I thought it was pretty funny but what do I know?  I'm not officially in the group.  Hey, not every day you see Draco Malfoy with scarlet and gold hair.

Most people get the joke and there is much nudging and "We'll get you back Gryffindor!" comments. A few people are slightly offended, but nothing really over the top... Yet.

Eventually co-mod [info]asahii gets her panties in a twist.  Apparently she wasn't in on the joke (well, she was a Slytherin prefect after all...), didn't find it all that funny and overreacted took it very, very seriously.

There is of course the obligatory "I'm sorry" post.  Most take that graciously, and there isn't much wank there, but meh.  It's early and freshly posted apparently.  It'll probably grow.

Like I said, tiny, but I thought it was funny. ::shrugs::

ETA: Note to self: I have no idea wtf happened to the coding, other than to say that the client I used sucks. :-/

Yeah, it's fixed. Sorry, this new client of mine likes to throw things into the code automatically. While this works with LJ, apparently it does not work with all other happy journal sites. >.

I am sorry, but that is just so incredibly pathetic. The Slytherin-guys who got offended and imploded(specially the mod-prefect-whatever) really need to catch some fresh air. Can't blame the gryffindors there. I mean, it were...paint edits....

*shakes head* I wonder what humanity is coming when our youth behaves like that, completely lacking common sense.

I didn't say anything at the comm (I'm a Ravenclaw) because I didn't see any point in throwing my two cents in and dragging anything out, but I mostly thought the "prank" was sort of lame, myself. That, and it bothered me that all the Gryffindors had supposedly worked so hard for so long on... bad MS Paint edits, and the Gryffindor mod didn't want to "let her friends down" by calling off the prank. So... instead, she went forward and upset a lot of other people? Fabulous. Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalries bore me silly to boot, and I can't help but think a lot of Claws and Puffs were sitting on the sidelines reading all this going, "Oh, for fuck's sake."

That, and I think doing it right before Christmas was incredibly ill-advised. For whatever reason, stress and/or emotions tend to run really high around Christmas, and far from it being a good time to prank, people tend to take things the wrong way and fly off the handle. Yeah, even over imaginary wizard houses. Especially imaginary wizard houses.

In all honesty though, this did seem like a vendetta wank in order to piss off the Slythie prefect. Which makes it even wankier. I, for one, didn't find the Gryff prank offensive, at all. I thought it was poorly designed and just generally lame, but it's a shame it turned into such a ridiculous mess. A good natured prank war could have been a lot of fun (and we *so* coulda kicked the Gryffie's asses), but unfortunately, it seems there are some people out there who take everything so goddamn seriously and forget that this is the internet, not really Hogwarts, and at the end of the day, we're nothing but a bunch of computer nerds with overactive imaginations who enjoy playing silly online war games.

Aside from the shirts not being that funny in my opinion (which is why I can see her lack of humor) I think she took the joke a wee bit to seriously. Then again their reaction to her lack of humor is a wee bit to serious too. OMG HOW DAR YOU NOT LAGH?!?!?! Jeesh.

-10 points for the pathetic MS Paint work. I don't think I'd touch that community with a ten foot pole. I used to be the Admin of a LARGE HP non-LJ site, and it took a year in a mental hospital to recover from that job! =) HP House obsessors who take it too seriously are scarier than Legolas fangirls.
