Transformers: Scarier than your fandom for over twenty years!
So, this random person posts to Alt.toys.transformers, with a very dramatic 'I'm leaving! You guys suck! Oh, and you, you and you? You ruined my life! I challenge you!...to a White Castle Eat-Off!"

The general opinion seems to be "Huh?" and "Who are you?" But then the story unfolds, revealing harassment of random people on the interstate who look like a female transfan, and a lot of general weirdness. Then members of #wiigi(i) crawl out of the woodwork and slam into the guy. More comments from the OP, even though he claimed the first post was his 'Final Post'.

Feast on the wank, ye mighty, and despair!

I've been thinking that transfans as a whole are scarier than HP or such quite a bit over the past few days, but no one really pays attention to them.

*The wank is rather jumbled, as Google Groups beta is rather broken, IMO, but it's still at least marginally comprehensible.

Dammit, I feel so ungeeky and out of touch with my childhood now. All I can remember about the Transformers movie was that the word "Shit" was said (which stuck out for now real reason) and that Leonard Nimoy was in it and Unicron transformed.

Ah. Lucky you. In my group of HS friends a party was sitting around watching Transformers and eating pizza and drinking soda, discussing how great the graphics were and how sad it was that the producer died. Of course, we were geeks, so that shouldn't really surprise anyone.

Google Groups beta is broken, but it's much better than it used to be - it at least more-or-less keeps track of what I've already read and tells me if there's new posts to the thread.

*[info]telophase just wants to read Usenet with trn, but doesn't have access to a newsfeed and system that support it.*

Total non-surprisement here at Transfans. Ah, bless. "Shutup, homo" is sort of charming in its simplicity.

For one thing, I totally agree with them being worse than HP fans. They just wank in quiet places where angels fear to tread. Nobody can wank like a Transfan can; that fandom is fucking insane. I have never met people who can try to formulate new technowords for copulating robots, argue about the varied moral highgrounds of the Decepticons with utter sincerity and gritted teeth, and whine about robotic dinosaurs left out of the movie - all at the same time!

God bless you, Transfans. Your wank lights our darkest hour.

I think it's the fact that Transfans have 20 years(plus 1) of existence, PLUS, since around 199-something, they've split into various factions that argue the merits of the various shows, or just plain wank(Trukk not munky!) Proof, I suppose, that age makes the wank greater. Or something.

(I just like the movie and collect the toys and try to avoid the rest of them. Even the toy collectors are scary as hell. (Ventured into a forum about that once and was Seriously Creeped Out. I mean... they had frigging Tutorials that went into an insane amount of detail about all manner of things. How to display the boxes, how to prevent warping of the boxes, what lights can and can't be directed at the toys(and for how long!) How to clean dust. I was very much o_O at it. (What? I buy them, get them out and play with them. I thought that's what they were for.)

Well, Slytherins at least are of our species. If you think you're a Decepticon you have to believe that you're not just a fictional character, you're a fictional robot.

I don't think there's any real winner in that contest though.

Snarl was in the movie.

In the scene where the Earthbound Autobots get a transmission from Spike and Bumblebee when they get attacked?

We see Snarl twice.

He was probably in the back of the shuttle dropping some Minicons off at the pool

I'm honestly a bit surprised that this is the first Transformers wank I've ever seen posted, given how batshit crazy most fans are (especially the G1-ers who *hate* anything that follows, ie. Beast Wars etc).

The new year's in a few days' time, and while it might seem like nothing special to most of the world, I'd suspect it's Very Significant to Transfans.

Mainly because that's when the movie takes place.

And, well, you just know stuff like that is gonna explode in your face if you so much as look at it.

Heh. I decided to stay the HELL away from that fandom when a guy in my Japanese class got into a convo about fandom with me and confessed to writing a Transformers lemon fic. With a lufa... I don't recall much of the conversation after that, besides being extremely confuse on HOW that's POSSIBLE.
