It's "Wank! The Musical"!!!
I was waiting for the wank to explode all over the IMDB boards for Phantom of the Opera once it was released. And the fans didn't disappoint.
In a thread titled "Why the critical disdain?", some fans express concern that the critics have it in for this movie for no reason and fret because its not being nominated for awards (which confuses me, as it was nominated for 3 Golden Globes). Then along comes emma_crawfordgreene (who has ~Universal Studio exectutive in her signature), to tell them all why:
Obviously the critics and the Oscars are smarter. Because the film is a piece of crap. It is a shameful version of ALW's show.
emlodik fires back at her:
I'd like to see you do a better job, you retarded booze wench. And don't tell me that the only reason you hated the movie is because your precious Michael Crawford wasn't cast as the Phantom.
Several people reassure the starting poster about the critics responses and the awards, and kechelsen responds to emma_crawfordgreene:
As for the comments by Emmacrawfordgreen... My dear, those of us who have been on this board for over a year all know what you think of this film. It's obvious by the review you posted that you went into the movie theatre determined to dislike it. You really need to channel your dislike inot something more positive. It's not healthy to hold onto such hatred.
The thread continues on with jabs taken at the actors and their singing abilities, the critics, the costumes and production, and the whole movie being nothing more than "eye candy".
Bonus splooge fest here in this threadover Gerard Butlers ability (or lack of) to sing the role of the Phantom, with many invokings of Michael Crawfords name and initials.
