Fully Articulated Wank
This almost made it to [info]i_wank, but I decided I've done enough prior self-inflicted damage to the board in question on previous occasions. Anyway~

There is this hobby that has been creeping up on people over the last few years. Maybe you've heard of these Asian dolls that people call "Dollfies" - Dollfie is actually a brand name, and they are "BJD" - Asian ball jointed dolls. They are very pretty and ridiculously expensive, and the fandom online is very strange.

A while ago, a movie came out in Korea called Doll Master that dealt heavily with these dolls, and used dolls exclusively from a company called Custom House. The movie did well, and recently it was announced that Mirimax is remaking it for a US audience.

People start off pretty sane, but it doesn't take long for the peanut gallery to start freak out, and one member (who has trouble with her keyboard, it seems), goes so far as to write a terribly unfortunate letter to Mirimax. (it's towards the bottom of the page, the long quoted thing)

Kai Nimura, so full of angst, randomly trashes the movie, as well as some different types of dolls, in an unrelated thread.** Myself and a few others tell her to GET OVER IT ALREADY, but she refuses, coming up with such witty replies as, "de twist your panties."

Those of us waiting in the wings just decided not to reply further after a certain (painful) point, but ... Jesus.

**Between the time I started typing this up and the time I posted, the thread was closed.
