Book burning at its best
Because it's the "weakest book in the series", I must burn it!

Look, it's a burning hunk of Legolas!

I want a burning hunk of Legolas! I think that is the line of the week. Just think how you could use that in every day of conversation:

Fangirl: OMG Orlando Blooooooom ahhh so grate blah blah blah blah!
Me: [points] Look, a burning hunk of Legolas!
Fangirl: [screams and runs towards where I pointed, thus leaving me in peace]

Wow. I can't even bring myself to harm books that I hated, like intensely. To the point where I wanted to send the author an angry letter for daring to write this dreck, this making it possible that I could one defile my unsuspecting brain by reading it. Of course, I recognize that I have some issues.

In any case, posting about burning a book on a community for fans of said book is not only wanky, but, yes, as many people in the thread declared it: lame.

Urgh, burning books. But I'm glad some of the people there are aware at the historical implications:

But burning books is something I would never applaud to. Reminds me of the days people weren't allowed to read and make up their own minds. (I was watching Indiana Jones and the last Crusade yesterday...)

Ahahahahaha. That makes my day.

Something I've never understood about these book burnings is the fact that they're still supporting the author. You can of whatever you want with it, read it, burn it, wrap the pages around your cock and ACTUALLY wank with it, but none of it changes the fact that you're giving the author money when you buy the book.

I'm a book lover as much as anyone else here, but I don't understand why everyone is up in arms over the idea of burning, defacing or even DOGEARING a novel, especially one that has had millions of copies printed and over seven editions since it was first published in the 50s, ESPECIALLY the reprint movie edition of said book!

I understand the sentimentality behind not wanting to damage a book when you love the written word, but really. I paid $7.99 to buy one of the vast number of soulless machine copies of this book. Isn't it my business what happens to it after that?

I was taught neverneverEVERdon'tyoueventhinkaboutit as far as even WRITING in books goes (sure I scribbled in 'em in marker and crayon when I was extremely little, but those were my books and not the books of anyone else and certainly not books belonging to a library). I come from a long line of voracious readers who love their books and even writing in a book lightly with pencil makes me uncomfortable. I can't even imagine burning a book or intentionally defacing or destroying it.

Plus, The Two Towers is my favorite book of the trilogy. Though that is probably because Gollum is my favorite character and he plays a big role in the second half of that book :P

Let me just say that I'm a longtime reader of Fandom Wank and I'm surprised and honored that you guys thought my troll was actually worth posting. Not to piss on my own wank here, but I want to clear a few things up before I go to sleep.

The Two Towers was my favorite in the series, to be honest, and is the only one I reread. I lost my copy of it at one point and had to buy the stupid movie tie-in version, but then I found my original copy a month later, thereby making the Legolas one worthless. You can't deny that the thing is ugly.

Secondly, book burning is horrible when used for political or repressive purposes. Nazis are retarded. In the privacy of one's own home and the Internet, however, who the fuck cares? It's the words and the message behind the book that matter, not the paper it's printed on. I love books and have all my life, but I'm not doing any harm to Tolkien, his estate, or his great works by tossing a spare copy of TTT in the fireplace. I'm actually really surprised that so many people find the sight of a burning book abhorrent - I think that's overall a good reaction, although almost childishly sentimental. I wonder how many of you would get that worked up over a burning flag?

Thirdly, god some of those comments were funny. I've been out of trolling for a while, but now I remember why I started in the first place.

Lastly, OMG PWNED

The only book I'd ever burn is the bible. But that's probably because I've issues with it, not that it bored me (okay, it did that as well).

Burning LOTR: TTT and whatever other books he did was rather stupid. He could've traded them in at a bookshop for books he does like or better yet - money for a brain that actually functions (I hear they're rather cheap nowadays thanks to lower education).
