Whaaaaambulence needed...
Someone posts to the LJ community vidding about the lack of comments on some vids.

I think they need some cheese with their whine. Small, but amusing and may grow.

It took me a second to figure out "vidding" was the name of the community and not some weird fandom-spawned verb I hadn't yet heard.

Bwaha! Now that I read it back, it sounds like something out of A Clockwork Orange. Probably could have worded it better.

It took me a while to realize the wank had nothing to do with Kubrick fandom.

Well, it's also some weird fandom-spawned verb, although it wasn't being used as one in the post. *g*

It is a verb.
In point of fact, I have spent most of the day vidding. (the opening segment needed refocusing)

It has also spawned numorous jokes such as "Vid Farr" which is when we can't get the clips onto the soundtrac fast enough.

What the crap is a vid? A music video? I'm really confused.

... A fan made music video, where someone puts footage from a show/movie/whatever to a song of their choice. Sometimes called, bumbumbum, a vid.

Learn something new every day. And not all of it is useful.

Thanks, btw.

Ha, I was wondering the same thing. Now I know.

[tries to decide between favorite 'get over it' sayings of 'here's the world's tiniest violin playing just for you' - complete with hand gesture - and 'cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it']

'cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it'

Hee! My cousin says that all the time. Unlike most of his jokes, it never gets old.

My favorite variation on the latter: "Cry me a river and drown in it." ::points to icon::

Vids are shown at various cons around the country, and have one specific one, VividCon (August, Chicago) dedicated just to them.

There are various sorts of vids: your basic song interpretation, constructed reality, humor, pimping vids (used to raise interest in a fandom).

Let me send you to Succubus Productions' Vid Archive

It should answer a great many questions, and raise even more (including "WTF were these people smoking?")

I recommend "Teddy Bears's Picnic" and "Imagine"

Tell me about it. I haven't been to AMV.org's forums in a while. Maybe I should go check it out and see if there's any stupid to be found...

Ah so this has nothing to do with being a Vid Boy.

And if there was anybody reading this that has ever played Marathon, they'll understand what I mean. : -)

The migraine I got from the OP's abuse of punctuation threw me into a frothing rage and I lost the point completely. Can someone refresh me on how sour this whine is?

All I see is troll joining up to bitch at people and something about vidders having superiority complexes.
