My fandom has stamina! Yes, more Fullmetal Alchemist wank. First time I get here first I think. (Reminder: this stuff only happens on fm_a, promise.) Background; Treesock is a Maes Hughes fan, but not a fan of the series. (her profile says; 'Oh, and despite the way things look, I'm not a fan of FMA. Merely interested in the world and its characters. The manga and its terribly overrated anime counterpart are among the many things I dislike.') Can't find links quickly, but she has has an habit to comment on non-Hughes related entries with comments that tend to irritate some people. I remember an instance where an artist posted fanwork and her only comment was a request for Hughes art, which people found rude since she hadn't even bothered to compliment the artist. I believe it was shortly after that one that Treesock posted to apologize about the people she might have offended in the past, and people were mostly nice and forgiving. I think she did make an effort, but things did not simmer down. I've seen the frustration grow around and Treesock reacts to those fanarts by posting (in case you didn't catch my drift yet, more spoilers in this link!) this. And we hit the gold as she reveals that she has Asperger Syndrome and that must be blamed for her behavior. Yes, I know, it's fucked up to have such an obsession with a fictional character. But I simply can't do anything about it(here there's a link to an Asperger Syndrome explanation page). Now, even my closest friends don't know about this. I try to hide it from them, as not to present it as a crutch. The first few people are supportive, but some people are starting to let out their frustration. From Why is it that everyone else needs to be nice and understanding to you, while it's completely okay for you to be a total asshole to them? I just fail to see the logic in that. If you go around being a jerk, you don't have the right to complain when people get pissed. And having a syndrome of sorts is not a justification to being an asshole, and bringing that up just seems like a pathetic attempt at getting sympathy- and pity-points. At least one other aspie is annoyed; From As ironic as it may sound, I have Asperger's, too. And yes, I do obsess over a single thing for long periods of time. However, I do not let my obsession - whichever it may be at the moment - dictate the rest of my life. I do not attack people if they do not agree with my obsession or do not like the object of my obsession. I do realize that there are things outside my obsession. I may even try things outside my obsession if the opportunity arises. I realize that while my obsession may feel world-encompassing, it is NOT. You need to realize this too. The world does not begin and end on a CARTOON CHARACTER. Jesus, woman. Get a grip. That is why you're hated. That is why people think you're a psycho. You insulted people. You belittled the creations of people. You insulted the community. You insulted the series. You insulted the creator of the series (and the creator of your beloved cartoon character). You did all this because of something that, at the end of the day, is nothing but a splatter of ink. We tried to tolerate you, but by the time we started speaking up against you, it was already too late. Quit yer whinin'. Yeah, we don't put up with assholes. Don't like it? I'm sure you can find the door on your own. Add an extra post where somebody wants everybody else to chill(ETA: link! Thanks whimsy_chan.) and you get a nice little wank that confuses a lot of people. I have many wanker friends it seems. Oh well, good friends provide amusement, right? Post a comment in response: |
