Completely Jynxed
Over on TPM, a semi-popular Pokémon board, an obvious troll posts about how the FCC should be killed for banning Jynx.

If you weren't aware, Jynx is a creature with wigglin' hips, kissin' lips, and long blonde hair. And formerly black skin, which was changed to purple in later games. See, Jynx was accused of being racist and thus was semi-banned from the cartoon show.

The debate goes on for some time. Is Jynx racist? Is she a ganguro? Is she a Nordic ice princess?

Terms like "People of Recent African Ancestry" are bandied about, one person calls *all* black people "African American"...

By this point, even the OP pops up to say that the thread should be closed!

But that doesn't stop Animelee from denying the term 'race', or Dogasu from UNLEASHING THE MEGACAPS OF DOOM *AND* comparing people who have no problem with Jynx to people who have no problem with slurs.

PS. Do I still have permission to have the FCC blown straight to hell? That way, all American Tv stations can show programs the way they were meant to be intended, no racist censorship, etc. Either that, or get someone from NHK, TV Tokyo etc to get a merger going with the US stations.

Whoa. I remember a guy pretending to be a girl named Jeannette trolling on a forum I went to back when I was in the Pokémon fandom... and that was five years ago.

That's got to be by far the most dedicated troll I've ever seen. It's almost admirable. Most trolls would at least move on to another fandom after a while.

Jeez. I know I blinked a couple of times when I saw Jinx for the first time.

African Americans is meant to be the PC term. It's the equivalent of calling a white person "caucasion."

The worst thing is, I know there are in fact a lot of people who would seriously use the term "African American" for, say, British black people, and have no earthly clue why that could possibly be wrong.

People make my head hurt.

I hate being called African American. Call me Negro (which covers more than one country) or call me nothing at all. I'll settle for black once in a while. But caling me African American knocks out two parts of my heritage which, while small, matter to me.

I remember talking with a friend about a Kenyan guy we knew, and she called him African-American. I just blinked. "Um, wouldn't that be more like African-African?"

Yep, that's why they won't show the Ice Cave episode. And why Jynx was cut out of a contest ep.

However, they still went out of their way to show the Prima episode, which has her using a Jynx against TR, which is why I said 'semi-banned'
