This Star Trek will go on forev...oh, wait.
As foretold, we have Enterprise cancellation wank. Here's the checklist:

Assorted hostility. Check.

Petitions: (1) (2). Check.

Letter writing campaigns. Check.

Pulling out the "I was a trekkie/trekker before you were born" street cred. Check.

Comments about the rest of UPN's lineup. Check.

Something Positive. Check.

"Enterprise sucked and I'm glad it's gone." Check.

Yep. That should cover it.

Hmm. I never got to watch Enterprise. Being in school kinda killed that, because we didn't have cable and got crap reception.

Well I liked it infinitely better than Voyager, but since I'd rate Voyager a zero, that's not saying much.

heheheheh. I like to sing that song to piss off my boyfriend, even though I don't really know the words.

It's been a long road, getting from there to here
La la la la la, and the something is finally near

:skips to chorus:

I've got faith in my heart
And nothing's gonna change la la la la
I've got strength of the soul
Na na na na na na na na na

WORST. THEME SONG. EVER. At least when they wrote shitty theme songs in the 80s that sounded exactly like this (like Full House - this sounds soooo much like the Full House song), they had the excuse that it was the 80s.

then they began to show a show which had absolutely no chemistry between the cast, no character development, no decent stories, no humor and wooden acting from all concerned. And yet I persisted in watching EVERY episode, caus well it was Trek. Or was it?

So ... you hate the show. You think it has absolutely no redeeming qualities and yet you watch every last motherfucking episode because it's Star Trek.

As the Vulcan once said:

"Illogical, Captain."

Alternatively:

"Goddamn it, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a rational human being!"

Confession time: I've never watched any Star Trek. Ever (Well, I tried to watch Voyager because the Captain was Mary Ryan from Ryan's Hope, but one half an episode was enough for me).

Does this get my internet geek credentials revoked?

While they did invoke the image of GR's corpse and rail against B&B's betrayal of the fans, there is not nearly enough of the trekkers v. trekkies debate. And, not once is the prime directive invoked (although we do get the amusing freedom of speech claim/nobody loves you rebuttal). All things considered, I'm going to hold off until I call this one an actual TREK war. Maybe somewhere around season three.

A bunch of us used to get together on Wednesday nights for working on different craft projects, dinner, and some TV. From the very first episode we saw that Enterprise was going to be a suckfest. After a couple months it was so bad it wasn't even fun to dog on anymore.

I don't think I'll ever get the idea of people watching a show they hate on a regular basis for fear of not being considered "true fans". SFW is some 11 year old you never met calls you a bad fan? Honestly.

See, I always thought that was stubbornness and inertia. You watch something that was good and now isn't, and you keep hoping it's just in a slump and it will pull out of it.

But, hey, the Star Trek fans and Star Wars fans now have something in common!

So, wait. Have they actually stopped making episodes in the middle of a series or something, or have they just stopped showing constant reruns of it on some US channel?

I think it's still on with some new episodes; UPN's just not going to make any new ones. There is still a slim chance that another network, like Sci-Fi, could pick it up.

And Voyager sucked the big, green weenie. So there.

I would be very surprised if Sci=Fi picked up Enterprise. IIRC, Spike tried to unload both TNG and DS9, 'cause the syndication cost was too high an ep. Sci-Fi said no.

::bangs head on desk::

I can't even count the number of times I have attempted to explain to people that not caring for Enterprise does not make me anti-Trek (until I decided it would be more useful to just never mention it again so I wouldn't be stuck in unwinnable online fiascos).

[rant] Good God, does the Bermaga really need to be encouraged for really crap writing? If you think so, feel free to keep watching. And if you really like the show, great. But please direct your righteous indignation at the cancellation at UPN and Paramount, not at Trek fans who stopped watching, thanks.

I feel sorry for the actors, being stuck in that drek, but I'd rather have no Trek than boring-as-all-hell-alternating-with-really-bad Trek. Which is why I stopped watching during season 2. If the only reason I could stay awake every third or so show was that I was yelling at Archer for being a moron, that's not good enough incentive for me to watch. Because I liked TNG and DS9 does not mean that I automatically must support something that I find tedious. [/rant]

Wow, I should stop before I trot out my "Trek cred." ;)

You have no idea how happy your icon makes me. DS9 is without a doubt the best Trek series, and Garak should have been given more screen time. And he and Julian should have resolved their smouldering UST.

Well, considering that Manny Coto is showrunning this season . . . and the writers have included those like Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens (The Forge, Observer Effect, United) . . .

B&B are all but gone now, but they've tainted the show too badly for it to recover. I think that old-time Trek fans would have enjoyed the Vulcan Reformation arc and the current origins of the Federation/Romulan War arc (final episode next week), but they're not willing to tune back in. The show's been a totally different beast since The Forge (the Augment/Soong arc had B&B's fingerprints all over it). It's been what it could have been, what it should have been.

We almost gave up on Enterprise when we saw "Precious Cargo". Then we saw "Judgement" and "Cogenitor", which were absolutely amazing episodes, so we kept watching. Also, we're madly in lust with Linda Park and Connor Trinneer, and Dr Phlox just rules.

I think that's why Trek fans keep watching, because there's so much potential there, and when they utilise that potential the result is excellent television. Although the 'Something Positive' comic has a good point too, and am I the only who would totally buy "Star Trek: Intergalatic Pole Dancers XXX"?

Tonight's episode was pretty good, and so was last week's. I'm a total Jeffrey Combs (Shran and various other aliens from DS9) fan, though. And the Andorians are just so rad.

BUT. Phlox is totally the best.
