You must like Japan!
[info]biscuitgirl posts in a community for residents of Nashville. She asks if anyone else there likes Jpop. [info]djmedieval replies, asking if [info]biscuitgirl thinks Japan is the "THE BEST THING EVAR AND EVAR KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ^_^" or if they just have a thing for Jpop music, and then it beings!

I know absolutely nothing about Jpop and I only found this entry, because [info]djmedieval posted something about Jpop fangirls at [info]antifangirls. It's not very big, but an amusing wank.

Let me get this straight: so, having any interest in Japan whatsoever automatically makes you a "Japanophile"? Apparently the otaku have finally ruined interests in Japan for anyone, ever.

The OP was even being rational, which is a nice touch. I think DJ Medieval and Delara have some dark pasts involving Japan that they don't want to talk about. In fact, based on her profile, I'm betting Delara is an ex-otaku who has lost most of her OMG!KAWAII obsession with Japan and has come around to bitterly hating otakukind and finding ways to make herself superior to them.

People will try to be elitist over the stupidest fucking things. It's obvious those two douchebags are both recovering Japanophiles themselves-- they sound like people who've just quit smoking who take it upon themselves to lecture every person they see on the dangers of nicotine.

Also: WELL JUST BECAUSE I IMPLIED YOU WERE A SCREECHING FANGIRL I DON'T SEE WHY YOU ARE ACTING OFFENDED. Ugh. douchebags.

In antifangirls, djmedieval says,

Dude, she lists ONE SINGLE LJ INTEREST. D:

I'm totally trippin' on that.

Am I the only person who didn't have any lj interests until over a year after I got my lj? I just didn't care. I mean, really.

Let's see, I got my LJ in 2001... my first interest wasn't that long ago, probably around 2003... then last year I added one, then last month I added one. So I only have three interests after four years. And I've been thinking about deleting one or two of them.

I used to have many lj interests, but since I cut down to one, I have become a much less interesting person. Seriously, I had a lot more friends when I was interested in films and music and fanfiction, but now that I'm only interested in vikings!, everybody finds me very boring.

Cuz lj interests = the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Well I only added intetrests so I could follow the links to others with similar interests, only so I could find Icons. I don't want communities, or similarly-interested friends. Just Icons.

I'm such a whore. Damn, now I feel a need for an "I'm and Icon-Whore" icon.

I love it. I wonder if he realizes livejournal has a cap on interests? I can just see him when he hits the limit: "Oh no! I've run out of interests! Must... drop... hobbies...!!"

Because, you know, livejournal is the undisputed mirror of all that lies in the deepest recesses of your soul, and all that.

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if you could like something without elitist asshats wanking all over you? Seriously, did somebody pee in djmedieval's pool to make him so bitter? But I refuse to take anybody seriously who has the name "djmedieval" - so there. Blah.

Also:

Lighten up, guys. You would be bitter too, if you went to Japan only to be ripped off at Mt. Fuji, taken to the hospital for pufferfish poisoning, and then raped by a tentacle monster while the doctor kept saying "Warete, Gaijin-chan!" and snapping pictures to sell later to an internet porn site.

Or something.

Hmm. While I think the accuser was quick to judge, it would be pretty annoying for heaps of your fellow J-Pop fans only to be there because OMG JAPAN IZ SO AWSUM!!11!!

While I don't like "I'm a true fan" elitism, hordes of mindless fangirls can wear you down after a while.

Talk about jumping down on the poor girl, its funny how [info]delara and [info]djmedieval keep ragging on her about being a Japanophile when it feels they're the ones that have the problem here.

Though, I'm quite amused Delara is using a porn doujinshi cover picture as her icon.

Seriously, wtf? I mean, I hate raving Japanophiles as much as the next bitter ex-otaku, but seriously, this girl was not "flipping the fuck out", as he describes her. It just seemed more like an excuse for djmedieval to kick someone in the nuts and feel better about himself. I mean, hell, she's half-Japanese...I don't see anything wrong with having an interest in your own damn culture.
