OMG GIRLZ R WEEK
First time posting an actual wank, apparently. I never tried it before. XD

While wandering around the IMDB boards, a friend found a listing for the Silent Hill movie that is supposed to come out sometime next year.

Did you know that NOT EVEN 1 IN 1000 WOMEN ARE EMOTIONALY OR PSYCHOLOGICALY PREPARED TO TRUDGE THROUGH SILENT HILL?

Me neither.

Not as outright wanky as some, but the stupidity overwhelms me.

I'm really confused. Stereotypes aside, because I don’t need to prove myself to a little boy, is this a troll? I mean, are people this thick?

It’s a movie, based on a game. Impossible things become reality. None of the fighting arts let you shoot sparks from your fingers, none of them teach you to break the laws of physics. Yet we do all the time, men and women in movies and games. In short, it isn't SUPPOSED to be realistic. So why fight when we are all here to escape that evil oppressing reality?

Curiosity here: Can anyone the body mass of the majority videogame/movie characters fire a double barrel shotgun without bracing it? I'm a pretty strong girl and I HAVE to place my feet apart and shoulder the gun to control the kickback. (5'1 and 145lbs in case anyone is curious)

Heather was the star of the 3rd one for a justified reason, but for f--k sake, this has got to stop. They did it to Resident evil and wammo that went. We see it in the ring, we see it in the grudge, but NO NOT SILENT HILL!!!

Women made these things go downhill? Has this person ever heard of "crappy writing" or "developers running out of ideas/changing things around"?

As far as SH is concerned, I was under the impression that the female characters played tremendously important parts in the entire series, sometimes moreso than the men. But then again, according to this person, that's just my imagination.

Sooo, I guess Eileen just didn't go crazy because she was holding Henry's hand the whole way through SH4 (okay, maybe there's a *bit* of truth to that). Or maybe this guy just couldn't figure out why he kept getting her cursed - damn me for playing the game well!

Oh, and Dahlia? BIT CHARACTER! She wasn't important - AT ALL!

I'm curious if Mr. Troll has actually ever encountered any of the SH fandom online. Because if he had, maybe he'd have noticed the large number of women who play and love the games. I know LJ isn't representative of the gaming community as a whole, but I'd say that at least 75% of the SH fans I've seen there are identifiably female. As far as places like gamefaqs.com go, there's still a high number of female players for the series - I'm pretty sure I've seen about half and half on their SH boards.

And as proof, here are two threads discussing how very obviously GHEI Henry Townshend is. XD

I loved the arguments over whether or not women would be able to handle a shotgun because they have less muscle mass. Immature male sexist wanking, anyone? Being 5'2 and female, I should like to note that I've fired a shotgun many times, as well as a .45 and an M-16. (And yes, I remained standing after that.) I wonder if that person has ever touched a gun, even a .22?

I believe the OP meant the actual real-life situation of going through the town of Silent Hill, should it exist. Because we all know that horror movies are based in reality and people's ability to handle the situation is always taken into account.

Regardless, being able to get out of Silent Hill alive isn't a matter of gender, it's a personal thing. Some people have the temperment that would get them through a horrific situation, some don't. Some people will get it done, some won't.

Casting women in the lead doesn't make a movie about a town with demon links any less plausible. Mainly because it's about a town with links to demonic forces. I run into those all time, really.
