ComicGetFuzzy Community is no More!
I'm torn about whether or not to post this here because I did play a role in this wank. Although I don't think it necessarily belongs to i_wank community either because myself and the other first wanker had left the situation before the major part of the wank began. So I'm putting it here. Tell me if you think it should be moved.

Once upon a time there was a community called ComicGetFuzzy, who's only purpose was to put up the daily Get Fuzzy comment. People could comment, usually one sentences about how funny it was. Or whatever.

Anyways, a friend of mine who belonged to the community noticed that someone was using an icon that she had made without credit. Now, this girl is my fandom twin so, being the good twin I am I commented that they should give credit.

A mini-wank was born, nothing that would even be worth noting on this community. It turned into an arguement about whether or not icons are a form of "art" or if icon makers should be credited. Things got most heated between me and local81. Now I was well aware I was wanking at that point, so was he. After a few rude posts to each other we got bored and became civil. End of Wank, or so we thought.

After myself and local81 finished our wanking the mod suddenly steps in. Now, at this point things had been forgotten. But her reaction was to ban local81 and then offered me an apology. Even though I had as much part of the wank as he did.


killerspork33: for the most part, [info]seashellullaby seems to credit for the icons she uses, and i have seen several people with icons very similar to that bucky/mirror one (though maybe you are referring to a different icon). if it's that important, feel free to report it to lj abuse, but there's not really much you can do to get them to credit. i hope you know all this.

otherwise, i am sorry [info]mbarrick was giving you such a hard time about simply asking someone to credit. you had a very valid request, and i think he was unjustly antagonistic towards you. and as for [info]local81... i am very pissed at their comments and am very tempted to ban them. if they bother you again, please let me know. i will not tolerate those kinds of comments in my community, and have already warned them to watch their future comments.

i hope this doesn't deter you from commenting in the future.

Because the comments have all been deleted I only have that because it was left in my email. But several members of the community (rightifully) bring up that I should have been banned as well. Now, note that neither myself or local81 are even members to start with and have said so a number of times. Once again, we forget all about it.

That is until the next daily post that offered this message


let's keep things nice today, people. some comments yesterday were completely uncalled for and will not be tolerated in my community.

EDIT: i didn't want to, but i had to ban [info]local81. their comments were consistently rude and unjustified, and i refuse to let one person ruin this community that has not had any conflicts since i started it nine months ago. please keep things respectful with the other members even if you disagree with them, because i will not accept blatant assholishness. .

Now it should be pointed out that the majority of the community had no idea that this had even occured. But with this fresh announcement by the mod a number of people found out about it and checked out the situation. I was unable to read the posts that were made to the mod about this because, like I stated earlier, they were deleted.

So you think, after that, the mods would let it go. But no. Another message appeared on the following day.

Again, people disagreed. I don't have any exact quotes but people once again argued that I should have been banned as well and that the mods actions were uncalled for because the situation had been seattled long before they arrived.

So, as of today, the community is no more.

i started this community back in june after all the syndicated feeds were being shutdown, because i love this comic and wanted others to love it too. we have +2800 members, but a few negative people, several who don't even belong to this community or have any interest in the comic at all, have made this a truly sucky experience for me. i am being criticized for censoring comments when i have never deleted anyone's comments, even those i disagreed with. i banned ONE person who was not a member and was just here to cause trouble. i wanted to give second chances to everyone who acted inappropriately in my opinion, but one person continued to flame, so i took the steps i thought necessary to keep this community running smoothly.

now trolls are coming to my and [info]st_fred's journals harassing us, and i definitely no longer enjoy reading the comment threads on the comic posts. i have trolls threatening to get this community suspended because i banned one NON-member, and i do know this is copyright infringement, but i am quite sure no one asides from united media really gives a fuck. i have bought every get fuzzy book printed as well as copies for friends and even t-shirts from united media's site, so no one can say i am cheating darb conley out of anything. i enjoyed posting for everyone. i stayed up late every night to do it and exhausted many image hosts, but i enjoyed it. i thought it was worth it. i even made all my archived strips from the last five years available for everyone.

now i do not care. you know where the website is. you know how to start your own community. i am officially abandoning [info]comicgetfuzzy because a few of you are ungrateful whiny disrespectful jerks. i'm sorry to those of you who never caused trouble, which is the majority of you, but i don't want to deal with this anymore. if you have something to say to me or [info]st_fred, say it here, not in our personal journals, but i am screening all comments because i'm sure i'll get tons of TOOL comments that don't need be inflamed by others. </i>

The greatest part of this whole thing? Myself and local81 are getting along very well now and find the mods behavior far more entertaining then we ever were.

By the way, if anyone happens to have quotes from this comment so I can add them.
