You can make wank from everyday household items.
This is more the ghost of a wank, as the best stuff had been bahleeted before I found it, but it appears to have sprung from the teenisest thing

In the community [info]manchester for the British city of that name, someone posed the question Does anyone know where I can buy goth baby clothes from in Manchester?

This provokes a huge tower of deletia that seems to cover single parenthood, being "an ugly geek" and abortion.

The original poster returns to sulk in public.

Better for otf_wank, but oh well.

Wanky to delete all the comments like that, sure. But really, why do babies have to have godawful clothes that the parent would never ever wear?

When a good friend of mine had a baby a year ago she was frustrated with that, all the baby clothes in the stores here are icky pastel colours. And some of us just don't like that.

If I ever (god forbid) end up having a kid, I swear that pastel colours will be banned in my house until the point where said kid is old enough to express a sense of personal taste.

Hot Topic has cute baby clothes.
(No, really. Mine's wearing both his Nightmare Before Christmas shirt and
his NBC jacket right now. And he has a matching hat. They're all BLACK.
Which tickles me pink, no pun intended, as my own mother stated many times that
babies in black were the most awful thing she'd ever seen.)

Kinda hard to escape the pastels, though, yeah.
*fears the pastels*

It could be argued that active support of Manchester over London is a form of fandom, but that's a whole other barrel of wank. I'll certainly remember the OTF thing next time...

I tried...I banned all pink. Guess what color my 8-year-old daughter loves more than anything in the whole world?

I'm just kind of wondering what types of goth clothes a baby would wear. I mean, if you just mean "something other than pastels," I understand. But I'm hoping they don't mean fishnets or tiny corsets or vinyl anything.

Exactly. I don't mind dressing a baby in black, but I got horrible mental images of a newborn dressed in fishnets, FMB's, a vinyl corset, white face powder and black lipstick. :o

And I wish them jolly good luck when the kid's old enough to pick out their own clothes!

Well, at least in vinyl you could hose them down instead of going through that whole tedious laundry/ bathing thing.

could you imagine sharing your baby pictures with your new family (spouse and children) and having to show yourself as a baby in those ridiculous clothes?

This woman has obviously not seen what real baby clothes look like. XD

A brief summary
(Anonymous)
2005-03-17 05:18 pm UTC (link)
I witnessed this wank unfold yesterday whilst distracting myself from real work. Basically (and this is from memory):

- Chrissmari's response to the post was "Oh god..."
- Nursefright: Whatever, don't comment if you've nothing worthwhile to say.
- Chrissmari: Blah blah, teenage whore, get an abortion, you'll be a shite mother anyway.
- Everyone else in the community: Umm...WTF?

Cue lots of wankage and deletion, as Chrissmari drags her friends over to antagonise the OP further.

Unfortunately, most of the people on the Manchester community don't realise that Chrissmari is little more than your average common-or-garden dramamonger, so they continue attempting to argue with her.

Livejournal: like the school playground from hell, but with less dinner ladies to break up the fights...

Those people appear to be from Manchester, which is in England. England, which is on the other side of the Atlantic Sea.

And the OP is obviously a genius genius, which is twice as good as a regular genius, because she believes in Goth.

And she believes that Goth believes in cloth. For her baby.

It's a good thing my vcr doesn't work, or I'd be forced to go and watch the film.

omg, Manchester is a fandom? *looks out of window* Where are my teenage girls? I WANT TEENAGE GIRLS, DAMMIT!

They're wanking about my old work and you can get baby goth clothes there. You can get black rags of all sizes at Afflecks Palace. It's a very inclusive sucking hole of despair.

Thank you so much for giving me that image, which will probably be stuck in my brain forever.

Pastels for babies are, alas, a fact of life. My twin sons suffered the indignity of spending the first six months of their life dressed in pastel-colored sleepers (including pink and lavendar) because I couldn't afford to buy new baby clothes and all my friends had had girls. And they grew up just fine. Okay, one of them's gay, but I seriously doubt wearing pink sleepers had anything to do with that.
