It starts off with a seemingly innocent rant about heterophobia and why it's stupid...

Then comes this:

But there is No Need To Whine when someone writes a romance story with male characters you like and they're not buggering each other in the ass every fifteen minutes, instead choosing to follow the natural human tendency to, I dunno, procreate with the opposite sex?

And people strongly disagree.

It's not a wank of epic porportions, but some of the OP's statements...lesbianism is trendy? ALL humans naturally have the urge to make babies with the opposite sex? Huh?

I think the OP's point was supposed to be something like 'if het sex didn't exist, you wouldn't exist, so don't be all hating on the het, yo', but fuck me, she worded it so wrongly.

And this is fanficrants. Word something wrongly and you're gonna get e-kicked up your e-ass, no matter what sexuality it is. They're quite 'equal oppurtunities' like that.

While I fully understand that not every single human being on the face of this planet wants to have children, be they gay or straight, the vast majority will at some point in their lives at least entertain the idea. And further still, the majority of those people will go ahead and breed. That is, after all, what sex is really for, pleasure aside. It's society that's made it about love and feelings.

Humans also naturally have the urge to procreate with members of the same sex, which is why gay couples adopt. Her blanket statement leaves out this oh-so-important fact by not putting the word 'Some' in front of it.

And actually, that's not what sex is 'really for'. That's like saying crapping is what eating is really for. Procreation is simply one possible result of sex. Lots of creatures great and small have masturbatory and homosexual sex for pleasure and for social interaction, without procreation. They also have heterosexual sex for the same reasons, as well as for procreation.

Natural tendency to procreate, my ass. I decided a long time ago that didn't want children, and that's very unlikely to change.

And since when is lesbianism trendy? I'm not a lesbian just because I have friends who are. I've been a lesbian all my life because I've found women hot, and the thought of being with guys makes my skin crawl. My lesbian friends just convinced me to stop denying it.

Why's everyone jumping on the "natural tendency to procreate" line here? Procreating is a natural urge. Yes, not everyone feels or follows this, but it doesn't mean it stops being a natural urge.

And just because sex doesn't always equal babies, doesn't mean that's not the biological purpose of sex. Yes sex feels good. It feels good because squirting the (possible) result out later doesn't feel good. It feels good so critters (and people) want to do it. They don't have to know that sex=babies, because it just does (though, I give a nod to those saying "but not all the time, geez!").

Not to say that those engaging in homosexual or masturbatory acts are being unnatural...

There are other reasons to have sex besides babies. But babies is, and will remain, the original, natural purpose. No matter why else people want to do it. Go ahead, don't have babies, Mother Nature doesn't care, there are plenty others of your species that will follow the original programming.

As for lesbianism being "trendy". I can see arguments in favor of this, and I mean I agree with some of them. Before I get jumped on and beaten up for saying that (too late!), I want to explain... It's like a certain hair color (pick a color, I don't know what's "in" right now) being 'trendy'. Some people are naturally that color, or close to it, but others may try to change themselves to fit what's "in". If being a blonde or brunette is in, some people will bleach or dye their hair. If it's "rebellious" and "hot" to be a lesbian, some girls will kiss other girls at a party in front of the guy they like.

Oh, dear. She's right. I feel so sorry for those poor, repressed heterosexuals. I mean, they're not allowed to marry, it's more difficult to adopt kids, more than half the country thinks of them as sinners. Some fear for their lives and risk alienation from their families just because of the way they were born.
