I can't write Jem fanfiction, I don't know the characters well enough to and I'd prefer to read the work of others.. but I don't WANT a non-canon element like femslash crammed down my throat JUST for being a Jem fan.

So you don't know the characters well enough to write fanfiction, but you do know them well enough to tell others which pairings they're allowed to write.

Hell it's been years since I saw Jem, maybe they were having lesbian orgies during the commerical breaks, I don't know, it's been a while since I watched it.

Also, just an FYI, "these people" she spoke with? (http://www.livejournal.com/community/starlight_music/114514.html) Were very polite to her, given the circumstances. Including the (mainly gen and het writer) who MADE THE ICONS in teh first place.
