A what?
It's a car! It's a plane! No! It's an 'Unofficial' Cafepress in Fanficrants' name!

Done without even bothering to ask any of the mods, mind you.

Edit: Aw, deleted. But, [info]ladybirdsleeps recorded most of it in the comments below.

I won't comment on their other material, but as far as shirts go, Cafepress fucking sucks. Yeah, you can turn any joke with a two week lifespan into a shirt with little initial time and money risk, and boy howdy does that show. You can always spot a CP shirt from a mile away, with their washed-out plastic transfers looking little better than the iron-on kits you can get for your household inkjet printer. Anyone considering doing shirts through them would really be better served by calling a local screen printing house to do the job properly, but that of course takes effort and requires you know enough people will buy your shirts to make the screen setup worthwhile.

So... as someone who doesn't know if anyone will buy her hypothetical shirts, you'd suggest I stick with cafepress? That sucketh. I want my middle of the road option!

It depends. If it's a small logo like thing, it's fine. Mine's pretty well worn.

However, I have to hand wash my shirt with the huge black picture on it because white spots are popping up in the black background.

I don't know, I have a couple shirts from there and they've worn pretty well. Maybe I just have low taste in gimmicky shirts.

Their shirts blow. I have one of their messenger bags, and it's held up very well (though you have to like traffic sign yellow in your accessories). I haven't tried their stickers.

Now, now, but if they bothered to ask the mods before selling your community name on mugs and t-shirts, it wouldn't be unofficial anymore.

Hee, thanks! Unfortunately it exists only in this icon.
I guess it would be easy to remedy that, but my lack of venturesomeness rules me out for the required expedition into the dangerous world of mug-creation.

I couldn't see the icon, so I went to your icon page to see if it would load there, and... um... the moominporn one? Has SCARRED ME FOR LIFE. *hides in corner*

Uh...sorry?
I'm kind of proud cause it is good at what it does. But I haven't used it in ages, because I feel uncomfortable with it myself - and that's something, considering I made it.
It evolved from one of the more feverish threads in the middle of crystalwank - does that work as a excuse?

*yelps and covers ears* NO THEY DON'T!!

Unless it's Moomin and Snufkin involved. In which case vanilla - vanilla - porn may be slightly acceptable.

Nothing untoward there, I promise.

Everyone loved Snufkin. He was Teh Bestest. The Moominpapa stories and spin-offs really fell down.

Although I kind of liked the Snork as well. What can I say, middle child.

She's probably going to delete it (my fault entirely for picking on her by pointing out that it's off-topic now, and telling her how to delete it), so this is the post:

100_years:

The Random FanFic Online Shoppe!! ((wtf is a 'Shoppe' anyway?))
Well, I hope nobody minds about this, but... Since I've gone completely batty with CafePress, I have opened up The Random FanFic Online Shoppe. I don't know what has come over me. If you have any good quotes that would fit on a t-shirt, or some good pics to go with quotes, just e-mail 'em to me, and I'll see what I can do. I figured it was okay, since I made sure to mention that it is, indeed, an unofficial shop. So, see what's already there (which isn't much) and make suggestions and whatnot...

Much *evil* love,
Sarah XD

EDIT: I've changed the name, so now it's a personal store. Please direct any comments or suggestions to my e-mail. Thank you.</i>
(Note: this is the edited version, which took out Fanficrants' name. Basically, she posted an ad for her "unofficial" Fanficrants CafePress store.)

Some comments:
Me: I hope nobody minds about this

Consider your hopes shattered!

Her: Really? What's the problem? I labeled it Unofficial, and I can make sure people know that it is in no way affiliated with the moderator(s) of the site, if that is what's wrong.

Me: It seems mighty presumptuous to create a CafePress store for a community you don't own without permission. Of course, fallofrain might not care, but that's beside the point: it would have been courteous to ask.

Plus, CafePress is just crappy.

Her: Well, I just found CafePress. I have to admit I don't hate it. ^_^;;

As for presumptuous, well I've never thought of myself as such. Not even really all that impulsive. Guess I just didn't think. Which, I must say, really isn't like me. But I'm sure you don't care about my excuses.

So, I've apologised. And I'll apologise to you too since I seem to have offended you. I honestly didn't mean to offend anybody by doing this. I just got really excited about the idea, and, well...

Again, sorry.
And what fallofrain had to say:
fallofrain: *scratches her head* Uh, ok. So, how are you profitting from this exactly and just what does the community gain from a cafepress being opened in its unofficial name?

You know, my email address is readily available on the info page. You could have contacted me about this one and asked. Since neither of the co-mods have said a word about this, I doubt you asked them, either.

The community neither condones nor acknowledges this cafe press of yours. I would appreciate your cooperation in either renaming it, or pulling it entirely.

And next time, using a little common sense.
Not very exciting or that big of a deal, but it was like kicking a puppy. I couldn't resist.

You like kicking puppies? *gasp* How evil!

Don't you know that every time you kick a puppy, it grows up to be a horrible brute, forever traumatized by puppyhood memories of abuse, and kills kittens? God kills a kitten?

curious, even tho it's been deleted:

so *what*, exactly, was she going to print up? funny lines, like a metaquotes only on TShirts? Did it *occur* to her that the people that originally wrote the funny line might have a problem with someone taking it and making a buck? How, exactly, was this different than printing someone's fanfic and selling an 'unofficial' 'zine?

and, still curious, what's your take on her, [info]ladybirdsleeps? was she just stupid? new to fandom?

She was just annoying.

As for her store, there wasn't that much there, but none of it was original to her as far as I could see. There were a couple "Wank at your own risk" shirts, which she took from the user info, and some other catch phrases I can't remember now.

In the comments, one of the other less-bright members suggested ripping off a spoof fic, but it was deleted before I could smack her upside the head.

Yeah, why would I waste money on one of those when I could be wasting it on something like this instead? Seriously, if I wanted to plaster myself with an imbecilic attempt at cleverness, I'd just head down to the local Hot Topic. At least you can try them on before you buy them there.

Awesome, I knew there was a word that meant what I was looking for, and now I have it.

The scary part is, I've read a lot of legislative reforms pushed for by radical feminists (as I assume this person is, judging by her arguments and her implied stance that males and females are completely different and that the governing bodies and the law discriminate against women) and they are ...almost misogynist in nature. I read one case this morning wherein case law was established that said that clauses must be written into a contract that state that if a married woman signs as guarantor for her husband's business loan, then she is exempt from the terms of the contract if she claims she didn't understand the terms of the contract.

Apparently only radical feminists are capable of understanding contracts and must defend their 'intellectually handicapped' sisters, because it's not their fault that they don't believe that the law discriminates against them.

But discussions of female-on-male rape are intended only to take attention away from women.

God forbid male rape victims should ever get any of women's precious, precious sympathy.

And she wonders why people call her a misandrist. Nutter.
