good god. she must be new to the Internet - I've been seeing the same damn argument since I hit fandom in 1997.

don't want to be spoiled? get off the damn computer until you've seen the show!

OTOH, the chickie that said "it's aired, why should we cut for spoilers" is too dumb to breathe. gee, just because it aired where you are doesn't mean the entire country's seen it yet! and, golly GEE, [info]im_a_hot_dancer, I know this is a really difficult idea to wrap your teeny head around... but America isn't the only country airing the show.

Yeah, I got spoiled.
Damn me for not being born in the US and having to wait half a day because that's how long it takes to download..

Kinda hard to get off the computer when that's where you're getting the episode. Got spoiled completely by accident, too. Wasn't in a lost community or anything.

Not that it upset me terribly, it was more like "ah man, I wish I didn't know that.." (that was last week, tho.)

I have to agree.

Not everyone is going to "spoiler cut" in the world, so people need to relax, realize that OMG people post after they see things, and stay off fan sites until they have seen the show or movie.

The whining makes them look silly and like they have no brains because they actually expect people to cater to their needs.

I know this is not a popular opinion to hold in the Internet world but, it is a realistic one.

Don't want to be spoiled? Don't hang around sites where you can be.

jebus. I work at night now, 'till 8:30, so I don't get to watch Lost on TV. I download it the next day. (So, yes, I have 20 waiting to go home with me.) So, hey, I don't necessarily want spoilers either - but I've filtered all the Lost communities I'm in. it's really not that hard.

OTOH, I was in Lost chat last night, and yeah, I already know. wah. they shoulda *spoiler*-ed the other guy instead.

No offense intended to the OP... but spoiler wanking is so predictable you can diagram it. There's so much potential for good plot or character-based wanking out there, and I do come across brief spurts like this. But it never quite takes off. Come on, you slackers!

I seriously don't understand why she insists on having to read the communities when she knows some people have seen it? In every TV messageboard I've been to, the idea is 'aired already anywhere? Then we can talk about it.'

And the people who are like 'I taped it and now I don't have to watch it at all!' Uh...are people supposed to ask 'so, has everyone now seen the show, even those who've taped it?' before they start talking about it freely?

I live on the west coast! Avoiding the internet for *three hours*, and really just certain places, is NOT THAT HARD. Oy.

God, I know.

Also, I used to have Survivor drinking parties. Drinking. To Survivor. But I would have them on Friday or Saturday. And I'd avoid my Survivor MBs because I didn't want advance notice of how drunk I was going to end up being. XD

Avoiding places where people are going to talk about something you want to be surprised about is a SMART IDEA. If you don't, it's your fault for being an utter dumbshit.

But then there are times you come across spoilers where you wouldn't expect them - like the time I was reading the Highlander thread at TWOP, avoiding my flist until the newest episode of Angel came on here, and someone had a lovely spoiler for that episode without any warning or anything. When I crabbed at him, he was all, "But it aired on the East Coast!"

Someone call the Wah-bulance.

You know, I just finished watching this episode about twenty minutes ago. I managed to avoid every spoiler possible for LOST for more than a day. If I can avoid spoilers for more than a day, so can everybody else.

When people say they cried, with LOST it could be over anything. In fact, people on my flist did say that they cried. That gave me nothing. All I had to do was not click the lj-cut and I was fine. Don't read the communities until I've seen the episode and I am sure not to be spoiled.

Besides, this episode had no real surprises for me. The second I saw that Shannon was going to have her baby, I knew Boone was going to kick the bucket. That made the episode boring to me. Blah.

i personally agree that the spoilers should be kept hidden under cuts, mainly for people who havent seen the newest episode. But some people are getting way way way to pissy just because a new comer to the comm. makes a mistake. like having a typo in the cut...i know when i first joined i had no clue what a cut was and it took me a while to learn how to use them. so maybe yall should just take a chill pill and be more patient with people who havent yet learned the art of cuts!

There's an art to lj cuts? She must be over 35.
