Since Slayers is a fandom...
I bring to you all my first wank report, courtesy of the lovely wankers at DeviantART.

It all starts out at the fanart gallery of a person called animecartist, a Copy Artist, whose choice of art style is to basically recopy original official art from several different anime series. However, it is not limited to just that as she has also taken the liberty to copy someone else's fanart.

The fanart in question is by a Hao-K, a person who is very well known in the Slayers fandom for a popular fanart she made of Zelgadis/Amelia. Here's the link to the picture where the rest of her art is hosted. animecartist though, copied this particular work without permission of Hao-K and manipulated it to look as if Zelgadis was hugging Lina instead.

This does not bode well with several people (possibly because of the infamous ship wars Slayers is known for) but the majority of people are mainly against her just for copying the fanart to begin with, regardless of the art's subject. And so one or two people report her for plagarism. This causes animecartist to delete her entire fanart gallery and make a boohoo entry in her journal.

For a more visual reference a friend of mine had taken screenshots of her gallery and a closer look at one of the versions of the copied art before everything was deleted. Do take note that nowhere is credit given to Hao-K.

Now, cue in the fangirls who go on and on in the entry's comments about how they hate to see her go and the ones who commented negatively about her art are just plain mean and jealous. A small group decide to comment and explain why it wasn't the copying of the official art that was their problem. Many defend her and say that she does give credit, which apparently is absent from the copied fanart. My favorite line in here is by a Tasuki-no-Miko who goes to say,

"There are millions of people around the world who do it, and so long as you don't make money off of it, it's FINE."

Sorry Tasuki, but last I checked taking credit for someone else's work isn't fine even if you don't make money off of it.

And it continues on as people defend her and not seem to fully grasp that it is not the official art that is the problem but the fanart that was copied without Hao-K's permission.

So a day passes by when the wank should have hopefully settled. But animecartist decides to make a new entry where she apologizes for what she had done and asks for the fighting to stop. The ones who had been upset with her accept her apology and try to let bye gones be bye gones.

And then there was Soul-sama, who considers himself as animecartist's "brother."

He reads the newest entry and is at first confused by the deleted gallery and then appalled after he is directed to the previous journal entry. And then he wanks. And he wanks hard might I add.

The following are copied and pasted comments that Soul-sama exchanged with Meliachu, who was kind enough to allow me to post them here starting with the comment Soul-sama threatened to leave in animecartist's journal:

Why is the world filled with you fucking infidells. I really cannot stand you, and or what you stand for.

The artists of the cartoon profit money from the amount of money a studio gives them for episodes. They MAKE good pictures and such for the public. They make them so people can get resources off of them. THEN, the artist can make the characters themselves, or infact draw off of the picture =O!! posting this on an artsite increases the amount of fans and exposure to the anime. If anything, my sister was doing a wonderful job with advertizing these shows, and dazzling many eyes.

But here you come. Mr. or Ms. jealious. You have no pageviews of your own, no artistic talent of your own and.. :looks: yes yes, no writing capabilities at all either. Who are you to tell her you cant do copy art? Or that she can't modify the picture to make it look a little origional (if she hadn't, YOU LITTLE BASTARDS would have SCREAMED AT HER FOR LIKE THE 4385723089475098347 FUCKING TIME for drawing and coloring something exactly like the origional picture, so just shut the fuck up). Quite frankly, it does not degrade an anime or anything else if she changes something.

Let me ask you something. Is she making a profit from her work, money wise? Is she stealing the show and claiming it her own? NO! ALMOST EVERYONE OF HER PICTURES SAY THE COPY WRITE TO THE ARTIST OF THE SHOW AND CLEARLY SAY IT IS COPIED! MOST PEOPLE WHO DO THAT DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH THAT INFORMATION!

But no. It's not ok to draw a fanart that is in no way hurting the origional artist, to you, BUT IT IS OK TO USE THE PICTURES THEY MADE ALREADY AND THEN USE THEM FOR SHITTY DUMB AS STORIES WITH LAME DETAILS NE?????

It's PERFECTLY ok with you to take the origionally made pictures and use them as you own, because guess what, 'you're not claiming the anime, or the art, and it is allowed here on dev.' Stop being a selfish son of a bitch and realise that that is exactly what my sister is doing! She is not claiming the anime. She is not claiming the art is drawn free hand. And what she does is perfectly legal with the laws of deviantart.

Atleast she works for what she has. You probubly saw her pageviews and got all jealious and HAD to say something to offend her. :you: "well of course X33! I have no idea what it's like to be flammed by my actions because I'm in no way a respected member of deviant art! I'm not loyal and dedicated to this site what so ever, and i never comment on anything. I never even make art on deviantART. HAHA! GO ME x33! Guess what? It's a hobby yes. It's good art, yes. It's a waist of time, hell. fucking. no.

Do you know how many people are employed for CGing a picture? do you have any idea? She's practicing in that art, as well as drawings. She could really make something out of the colors she does.

Sir or maddam, I am a writer myself, and I know for damn sure that your stories are far from professional. You've got a long way to go, and are very under level for your age. Maybe you've found this out already. So to bring someone down with you, you had to try and crush her dreams. You're a very very very sad individual. You cannot go anywhere with what you have, but my sister does, and thats the bottom line.

Also, our idiot friend :iconameben: knows nothing. The art was not stolen, it was remade @_@. And she is not a semi professional artist at all. Like you, she has a long way to go in all divisions. I don't know who she thinks she is, but she needs to lower the self promotion she gives off.

Wow, what a lovely little garbage can full of spite.

You certainly seem very thick headed, I don't know HOW many times I said that I didn't care about the official art copies. Although I think that it is pointless myself, there isn't anything wrong with it and it can't be reported. I've been talking about a ripped off fanart this whole time, but you refuse to acknowledge that. You know, I've heard that if you repeat something seven times, you'll memorize it. Maybe this case calls for me to repeat what actually happened seven times, as it obviously hasn't gotten through your thick skull, but as I don't want to give you a reason to call me a spammer, I'll just say it once.

Ameban, a friend of the original fanartist, saw the ripped off fanart and reported it. She told a few other people about the ripped off fanart and they reported it as well. Only two people actually contacted your sister and that was through comments and all those comments said was that the fanart was ripped off and they were reporting it. No one bashed her, if someone did then I am not aware of it, but of course after she deleted all the evidence it was easy for her to make that one-sided drama post and get pity. The only reason we even posted in her journal was because people were bashing US when they didn't even know the real story. We weren't trying to start a fight, we just wanted to tell our side of the story.

What made the ripped off piece especially bad is that Hao-K took down her whole website with her art a while back because so many people were stealing her art. Ameban's site is the only place where her art is hosted.

Now, as to your spiteful, biased comments about how I MUST be jealous... If you look you'll notice that I have 29 page views, not 0 or can you not count either? I wouldn't expect to have a great number of page views considering that I only created this account yesterday.

What you said about my writing might almost offend me if I actually gave a damn about your opinion, but seeing how you can't even spell properly yourself... Well, I'll just leave it at that. If I'm jealous of anyone's art, it would be Ameban's. Although, I can't imagine you actually taking the time to look through her gallery or read my stories since you needed to have something to accuse us of.

I honestly don't have another account. I don't see how I'm being a coward. My email address is in plain view. Want my livejournal address too? Link to my fanfiction.net account? I really don't see how I'm hiding or being a coward. I'm not running from what anyone's said to me, my email address is up in plain view if anyone wanted to contact me through it and I'm responded to you right now.

You continue to prove that you didn't even properly read what was said. I said nothing about anyone needed a new hobby, someone told me that I needed a new hobby, and then Ameban responded that they were the ones that needed a new hobby.

'Remade?' Call it whatever you want, but the art was still ripped off. Even if it was just 'remade' it was still without the original artist's consent. I hadn't even SEEN the original fanart in a while, but when I saw the piece that your sister drew I knew instantly what fanart she copied from. Zelgadis is EXACTLY the same, the positions are EXACTLY the same Lina's expression is EXACTLY the same, the only difference is that she added Lina's accessories onto Amelia and colored it. She even said herself after my sister said she was going to report her that she only edited the picture and originally she didn't even credit it. She just edited it in after my sister said she was going to report her. Want some proof? Surely, although I'd expect that you wouldn't be inclined to look at it since it would mean that you actually couldn't be spiteful anymore.

Unfortunately, I don't have a screen shot of the lighter version of the copy, but I think the resemblance still shows through.

And yes, copying someone else's fanart IS against the deviantart policy.

Your sister did a very honorable thing and apologized and told the truth. She asked very nicely for everyone to stop fighting, and now you are emailing me the most idiotic insults. Stop being biased and spiteful.

Nice, but then again I could care less for what you have to say, and the ameba bitch and her art.They aren't good. If you looked through a few of my things, you'll find that yes, ameba's she is ugly, and so is Hoa-K's stuff. It's all too minimal, and even I am better than the both of them. If you took a look through some of my stuff in my gallery, you'll see my stuff is a lot more detailed and well colored than theirs, so don't tell me, ok bitch?

If you could say things to my sister about what she makes, thenyou can say it to her, but know that she has thousands of ppl watching her, so you might get a little angry comments. My sister is like .0000000000000000000004 as popular as majin thing, so if you got a few comments from her watchers about ur bastardous remarks, you might be flooded by her XD

I only said you were a coward, because some people said that you might have a new account. So I was saying that just incase you had another account, so I wouldn't look so much like an idiot :) Even if you did, I would be sure that it would be nothing special.

And spelling has nothing to do with a writer. It's the images and detail the writer can capture and THROW INTO the minds of the reader. You have none of that :D

My friend is bothering the shit out of me so I have to go, but know that you reported her for no reason. You could do copy art as long as it cites or credits the artist. She did that, so suck on that.

If you are calling Hao-K's artwork bad then you are also calling your sister's artwork bad, because she copied it almost exactly.

Stop tossing irrelevant things around. This isn't about how good of an artist anyone is. Your sister ripped off someone else's fanart. Or did you conveniently skip the proof I gave?

Stop looking for little details to bitch about, because that is NOT what this is about.

I would report that person, regardless of angry comments, however I don't have links to the original artist's works to use as proof.

Stop comparing yourself to everyone. Fanart isn't about who's 'better' or who is more 'professional' it's about having fun.

Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. I don't know how many times I have to say this before it sinks in. The one who made this into a big deal was her. All we did was report the one piece of art, she was the one that decided to delete her whole gallery and make that one sided drama post in her journal. We commented on her journal because we didn't want to let her get away with everyone thinking that we're all about of mean ol' bullies that were ganging up on her, bashing her and harassing her because she's a copy artist while everyone thinks that she's a perfect little saint. All we did was report the ripped off fanart. She's the one that decided to take it to the extreme of deleting her whole gallery.

not you of course. but no. every other week its someone telling her she's doing something bad. they say "u should pu tthe © on the pic !" so she did it. and she did everything they said, so now that there was nothing left to do and she made things as legal and well known as possible, even her sticky in her comments says she's a copy artist, you have to just mention it. You have to just push her a little harder.

You're not the only one. There have been many which flammed her much worst than you, all for copy art, and I'm just fucking fed up with it.

Ooh, I get it now. You're putting the blame for every single person that's flamed her on us now? Makes peeerfect sense, really. "flamed her much worse than you?" You still don't seem to get that we NEVER flamed her in the first place. None of us even TALKED to her outside of the two comments saying that they were reporting her. And, gee, you know, maybe if someone's been telling her she's doing something wrong every other week maybe it means she's... Oh, I don't know.. Actually doing something wrong?

Wow, your sarcasm detecting skills really need some work. I wasn't saying that I really couldn't understand, I was making a crack at your spelling and grammar. Now do YOU understand? And if you want to know what's so bad about your spelling and grammar.. Well, for one thing, you spelled 'understand' wrong along with numerous other things, but that isn't isn't the topic of discussion here.

Truthfully, the whole thing about her brain sounds like complete bullshit to me, but assuming that is true, that still doesn't give her the right to copy someone else's fanart. I've already said that copying official art is fine, it isn't against the rules, but this whole time I've been talking about her copying someone else's fanart and I’m also aware that that wasn't the only time she copied fanart either.

And, sure, I'll bring you back a slushie when I get there. :D
