Not again!
As called to my attention by a mouse.

Lost Gay Character Wank, Part II.

Some highlights:

Up till now, I would have said unquestionably that if there was a gay character, it would be Boone. For one thing (and I know this is going to sound horribly stereotypical) he LOOKS gay. The first time I laid eyes on his character in the pilot episode I thought to myself "Yeah - he's gay. No doubt about it." Now, though, that option is no longer on the table. So if there IS a gay character, who could it be?

we are really speculating on the supposed sexuality of a fictionalized chatacter? debating whether or not someone is gay based on satistical chance is the same as saying one in three women will get sexually assaulted in their life...i wonder who got raped? was it claire? kate? shannon? i wonder who got raped?

if you ask me this thread is gay. I mean have we gotten to the point where we're discussing stuff based on nothing but conjecture. actually not even conjecture, more like, nothing more then applying statistics of the general population to the population of the plane.

I'm not being a censor and saying "you can't talk about this" but i can point out that this is so trivial and unecesary and makes you all look ridiculous.

... Last time I checked, joining a comm to discuss a tv show almost always requires a few delvings into the Wonderful World of the Trivial and Stupid. And as usual, the trivial and the stupid parts are contagious.

Honestly, nitpicking such a trivial (and rather innocuous, considering) question makes me you need a dose of "chill out" with a side of "it's only a t.v. show."

I'm with the people who give more of a fuck about the Island and the Crazy then the gay. Does everything really have to have Teh Big Gay Agenda attached to it?

The comments amuse me for the fact that the commentors seem to hold the show to a much higher quality level than I do. Or at least praise it as such. I mean, I like Lost and think it's entertaining, but it's hardly Joss Whedon level humor and it's not Farscape level angst. It's popcorn tv.

I like this excerpt from the general wank:

I don't think it is the plot and situations that make this show so good. I think the show is so popular because it is character-driven. The people on the show seem like REAL people and not just bodies filling up screen so we can find out about a monster or a secret hatch. The monster and the secret hatch would not be interesting at all without the people, seemingly real people, that this things are happening to...

My initial response to that is

"No, dear, it's not because the characters are brilliantly and humanly written or because the show is realistic. It's got popularity because it's about a bunch of pretty people trapped on a tropical island with monsters and polar bears and glowing alien ships!"

Well, with about 50 people on the island, it does seem likely that some would be queer. Considering the attempts at "diversity" in the main players, it's interesting that they are leaving homosexuality out of the mix.

How something that basic became THIS is beyond me.
