Cosplay is Life! - Little Cosplay Wank
First Wank. While nothing compared to the latest Usagi Kou mess, there is an amusing little wank over on Cosplay.com.

You can read the full thing here.

It starts off with Catboi Blues posting:

Here's one for you all to think about(although some of you may have thought of this already). How many of you have thought of cosplaying for your driver's licence or currently have you cosplaying in your photo? Its something that I've toyed around with for a while and as I just turned 25 today I really need to get my licence renewed today. Right on hand if I actually go through with it I will either have my Vash or Sanji outfit on for my photo and while I do think it would be extremely ammusing to wear a wig with whichever one I go with I realize that its probably not a good idea. What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

And goes from there. Tangents include: The difference between hobbies and real life, the relationship between Livejournal and Cosplay.com and appropriate EGL outfits to wear to a funeral.

"Best WTF quote so far" award goes to Zephadus for this quote:

Now no offense to ethnicity or anything, but you've seen the guys with the turbans, right? Well what the difference between that and cosplay?

Thanks to my friend Bobbi for pointing out this wank.

...I would think that the last thing I'd want to show a police officer would be a picture of myself in a goofy getup. I mean, that looks real suave. (Unless, you know. You attack with laughter, or something.)

I don't see the wank.

But it is rather odd/amusing how the OP pulls a "haha just testing y'all" at the end. Uym, covering your ass much?

Hmmm.... I thought it was slightly wanky. It's my first wank, so I'm still working out. I may also just be fucked up by this who Usagi Kou thing.

One is a religious symbol, the other an apparently wanktastic pasttime. 'tard.

they're missing the entire POINT of a driver's license. in this context the difference between "those turban guys", vs wearing a cosplay wig is that those guys WEAR A TURBAN EVERY DAY. you do not wear the same cosplay wig every day, and when a police officer or bouncer checks you, and the photo DOESN'T LOOK LIKE YOU, your drivers license will be useless, cause you trouble and defeat the whole purpose of having photo ID!

i'm just waiting for someone fucktard to cosplay in their passport photo and get turned away at the airport! >P

so yes, the topic is totally wanky, becuase it's pure otaku-stupidity. i don't see why people are missing the wank here, it's pretty obvious to me. :P

Hello? You just made me read through four pages devoid of wank. That was an...interesting experience.

Good for you that it was mildly amusing in places. Plus, it had nice pictures.

I'm still learning, hon. this is my first wank. Unfortunately EVERY wank pales next to the ongoing saga of Usagi Kou

this reminds me of the plastic surgery thread... surgical elf ears anyone?

you may not always want to show the bartender the picture of you in a blue wig when you're out for a drink =/

cosplay is a hobby you don't see people into fishing bringing their rods and tackle box to get their I.D photos done.

Cosplay at a wedding uninvited is not right (Unless the theme is a costume of something, like a Star Trek wedding, then that is totally cool and encouraged!!! Just NOO Betazed weddings, please!

EVERY DAY IS NOT COSPLAY.

Surgical elf ears? Heeheeheeheeeee--ouch. Word on the no Betazed weddings.

Well, just to start with, one is done as an act of homage to an imaginary person, and the other is done as an act of homage to...oh, wait.

Well, I suppose he could cosplay on his license picture, but only if he did for however long that license is valid. I mean, the picture on the license is supposed to LOOK LIKE YOU. As in, no silly wigs/make-up/whatever.

Because we all know religious figures and religious people cosplay all the time. I mean, look at the Pope. He's got some great threads...does he buy them or get someone else to sew them? He'll tell when he does the cosplay runway walk! xD

BTW, love your icon! I love scaring people with that pic...though the kitty one is more adorable! XD

I've a friend who wore his Harry Potter costume for his DL photo. They let him get away with it because his glasses were prescription lenses and he wasn't wearing a wig.

Really, if you want to be the odd one and do something like that, hey, go for it, as long as you're not laden with makeup and wigs and colour-contacts or something and the DMV says it's okay.
