Death Note mini-wank
Deleted before it could really go anywhere, but I thought I'd still share a bit of it. I've got bits and pieces of the responses but I was unfortunately not around to witness it--if anyone was, feel free to fill in any gaps!

glassdarkly makes a post to the death_note community and proceeds to make a series of inquiries: how yaoi is the series, does L know that Raito is Kira, is L the grim reaper...

The replies start pouring in. Some people are helpful and patient, some are rude, others are just plain baffled that somebody dare infiltrate their fandom on the pretense of yaoi. fusakugyoku even pulls the "Nostradamous" card and prophecizes the invasion of the fangirls come October (his solution? genocide).

Hi there, I'm new, and I just started being in love with Death Note. Mainly cause of its yaoi-fandom out there. SO, I'm asking now these questions:

1. Is the series over?

2. Is it a real shonen-ai comic, like even just a little like Trigun or Wolf's Rain?

3. Is L like the grim reaper or something? - The original post

It's kinda sad to get into something purely because it has a yaoi fanbase. There is a yaoi fanbase for pretty much every series out there. Death Note has no implication whatsoever, and has an incredible storyline. You just have to find the patience to sit down and read it, instead of looking for scenes with two boys sitting together because OMGTHEYREINLOVELOL!! - neogrotesque, immediately followed by:

Well yeah, people say that just because its a shonen-based manga its automatically against everything gay and bishounen and busty women run around nekkid. But thats not the case! I mean most shounen's actually have huge yaoi fanbase. And really, shoujo yaoi is stoopid in my opinion (Don't through rocks!) - glassdarkly (... unh?)

EDIT: And it's been brought to my attention that the issue is still a hot one among the deathnote fen. Noteworthy is this post where they're beginning to feel the onset of panic re: the n00b invasion. Will this end up like fm_alchemist, with a ratings system for posts and a custom FAQ guide?
