	As I said over there: I've seen some mentions of a new wave of C&Ds against (credited) lyric posting on some music blogs in the past week. That reminds me. I once wrote an H/D Evanescence songfic with a bunch of other writers. I felt dirty afterwards.

Tourniquet: Draco is obsessively stalking Harry's taxi. Draco gets run over. Draco and Harry contemplate eternal salvation.

Evanescence H/D songfic parody complete with pointless angst, random backstory, inexplainable POV shifts, Muggle trappings, and abuse of the English language.

Oh, blessed FFnet. Back when I started writing and only published on FFnet I used to think songfics rocked. Of course, I did sort of hate it when I didn't know the song. But I wrote about 10,000 songfics myself before realizing that they, in fact, suck. Unless you totally nevermind the lyrics.

What I really hate? When they make characters sing the song.

..But, uhm, I of course have written that myself, back in the day.

The unfortunate thing about song fics is when they are done right, they can actually be pretty interesting... Sort of giving the same effect as a music video. But most people make the song the plot instead of using it to add to a feeling...

And it's easy to write, so most people who can't write worth a damn pump them out instead of thinking about it.

Writing a songfic is like writing any fic... it can be done right or wrong. And most people who use it write rubbish.

As for ff.net... this is just another sad attempt to make themselves look legit. In reality they need to embrace the fact that they majortiy of people who put stories up there write rubbish and get over it. That whole website is a crap magnet.
