More Mary Sue Report wank.
Well, seems like we got another live one, folks. A few days ago, a lady by the name of Uberbitsch reports a Harry Potter Mary Sue story that also changes Hermione's character for that of a punk rawkin' "bad girl".

A day after the thing is posted, the author (known as Wicca Gurl) shows up, and leaves a generic "I'm laughing, really, but fuck you!" reply. A few people reply, not too much of a big brouhaha happens.

She leaves another reply two days later (aka yesterday), still not much happens.

But today, her beta reader (Mage Kitty) replies on her behalf, accusing the OP of having posted it to get people to flame her friend, and later declaring herself and Wicca Gurl as "masters of debate," and hence nothing anyone in the community says in their "flames" is right (Despite the fact that when calmly questioned by [info]littleshebear about their choices of characterization and the concept of Mary Sues, she does not bother to reply.). She also doesn't seem to be able to handle the LJ comments system too well, as you can see from her other reply.

This has yet to reach anything resembling epic proportions like our old friend the Terminally Ill Sue Author and her sockpuppets, but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

I'm still trying to figure how that works, myself.

Duh.

*slaps forehead* Oh, OF COURSE! I should've remembered that thing!

You know, I found that thing amusing when I first saw it, but I knew better than to take it as a serious and frank potrayal of modern Paganism. *sigh* Go figure.

No shit. ^^ I liked it at the time...

...of course, at the time, I was also 16. And I guess being half-goth, half-wiccan *is* cool... when you're 16.

I thought it was cool when I was fourteen, I remember watching it with an older friend who was into Wicca. X3;

It's about these four high school girls (the only two actresses I remember are Fairuza Balk and Robin Tunney, but they were the most important characters anyway) that form a four person 'coven' and do all these pseudo-rituals etc, except that Fairuza Balk's character is kind of an evil bitch that wants to start doing black magic (which is against the Wiccan rede of an' it harm none, do what thou wilt), so Robin Tunney's character has to stop her from going out of control or something. It's been a -long- time since I've seen it, but I think that's the jist. X3;

Oh sweet Lord and Lady... you mean those guys are STILL at it? *rolls eyes* Good gods, haven't they realized that they're old news by now? Or is that why they're doing this? Because sooner or later, we're all gonna just start ignoring them. I know that I had forgotten about them.

*sniffle* Why are they ignoring me? I feel so hurt! I clearly don't reach their insanely high standards of debating. I'm such a failure. *weeps*

There, there! We still love you, even if you *don't* have the 'master debater' sk1llz these girls do!

It makes me so so sad that we're only 'small' and 'petty' 'flamers'. ;_; I thought Mary Sues was better than that.

Besides... I thought that was what Fandom_Wank was for. XD

We can't possibly hope to compete with them. They can even write Hermione better than JK Rowling can. *serious nod* We must cower in the face of their towering intellects.

You are *such* a ho! You beat me to it! I was going to post this, but nooooooo, you checked your friends page first. :P

*le sigh*

On another note, I do so love it when the Mary Sue Authors fight back. Aren't they just adorable as they struggle to prove that while their dear, beloved Mary Sue isn't a Mary Sue, that J. K. Rowlings characters are *all* Mary Sues? I guess that just goes to show how much better of a writer Wiccan Gurl is than her, huh?

Damn! I think we could *all* learn something from this Hot Topic brand teenygoth!

I couldn't wade through all the existential wank to figure out what she was calling uberbitsch a hypocrite for. O_o Sooooo, how does laughing at her horrible story make *us* hypocrites? I frankly fail to see her point.

But that's okay. They're 'master debaters', after all! We'll eventually *all* see their point, I guess.

*hey, wait - anyone else notice how much 'master debaters' sounds like 'masterbaters'? XD No wonder they wound up on Fandom_Wank!*

I think she was saying that secretly uberbitsch/Mary Sue haters in general secretly just looooooove Mary Sues, or we wouldn't be reading HP.

Heh. I've pretty much stopped reading the Mary Sues community because I've gotten sick of all of the "This non-fanfiction character with special powers is a Mary Sue!!!!" posts. I mean, Christ, who isn't a Mary Sue to these people?

Granted, the comm did go through a phase of pouncing on every canon character who was slightly unusual and branding them a Sue. I did tune out a little when that happened, especially during the "Frodo's a Sue, Faramir's a Sue, Galadriel's a Sue, Gandalf...(cont. until practiacally every Tolkien charcater had been tagged)" kerfuffle. But that seems to have stopped now. The snark is back, and it's fun.

Then why is Rowling published and she isn't?

My 'petty,' 'flamer's' brain is obviously inadequate to handle it.

He gets good grades, he never loses a Quiditch match (except that time he fainted due to the Dementors, but that doesn't count)

And out of that whole wank, I'm just going "IT DOES SO COUNT, IT ALMOST WRECKED GRYFFINDOR'S CHANCES AT THE QUIDDITCH CUP!"

Harry also doesn't necessarily get good grades - in one or two of the books it's clearly stated he gets by Snape's classes with a barely passing grade (IIRC,Harry's not even sure how he manages to pass), and what good grades he does get he works very hard for.

Mr. Bimble's a devoted Harry Potter fan.

The idea of anyone calling herself "Wicca Gurl" and claiming to be a master of debate is, in and of itself, too amusing to be legal.

J.K. Rowling's characters may have obnoxiously Sue traits (if they're not total Sues), but at least most of them are likeable, and they have reasons for being the way they are and doing the things they do.

Not to mention that J.K Rowling probably doesn't spend her days screaming a litany of mistreatment to the heavens when critics say that her books are satanic, or that they're "fluff", or that they're never going to be "true classics", et cetera.

This wank is fun.

I would say Raven is not Marry Sue

This makes me laugh, because "Raven," or any variation thereof, seems to be the most popular Mary Sue name out there.

Well I have more inportant things to do then pretend to be hurt by your poor excuses for insults... I'll try harder next time...

Yeah sure, sweetie. It doesn't bother you--that's why you took the time to bitch at them about it. Then again, I have little patience for anyone who bothers responding to flamers by (repeatedly) insisting, "Haha! Your words have no effect on me! Ho ho! I laugh at your derision!" I have a friend who does this, and she's completely convinced that it hides how upset or annoyed flamers make her. Uh...right.

Don't forget 'Sakura'. Everyone loves to name their 'original character' Cherry Blossom(s), for a reason that I can't quite comprehend.
