Look at the pretty Browncoats site. Isn't it nice and shiny? You'll have to join it in order to see anything below the cut, alas, but it only requires an email address.

Warning! After the cut, this involves massive, massive Serenity (THAT MEANS "FIREFLY THE MOVIE" KTHX) spoilers! This summary contains spoilers! All of the links contain spoilers except for the ones above! In all probability, so will the very few comments this gets! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

It's also probably not worth it.

One day, Joss Whedon decides to let a whole bunch of people see a prescreening of his new movie. Everyone is so excited! After seeing it, they're emotionally drained. Most admit it is a work of PURE CINEMATIC GENIUS. Many are happy, but quiet. Many are conflicted. Many are deeply saddened. A precious, delicious few are really mad. You know, like every time Joss makes something. Also, they're all... articulate. You might notice a few people in common among all those threads; the angry people are few, but v. LOUD.

jacquelinepassey has started a dramatic campaign! On her website, which I have been referring to as "save(spoiler).com" because I'm THOUGHTFUL LIKE THAT, her first entry sparks rather more argument than she had anticipated. The debate rages politely but viciously all across the board for days. And days. And days. Three days, to be specific. Then the whole thing degrades into GIANT ESSAYS and a precious few petty insults. I can't wait for the "jacquelinepassey camp" to refute, but I'm a Whedon fan. I like giant polite essays on why everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot (as I'm sure you've noticed).

Oh, and I'm in there, but not as a participant. I just made a really great joke about it and didn't say anything else.

Oh yeah. Jacqueline Passey popped up in [info]serenityspoiler and made that announcement too. It never got really wanky, though -- for once, reason actually won out on teh intarweb.

I was a little bit disappointed at the lack of splooge, but at the same time I'm relieved.

I can't see any of the links without joining the board, though. :/

Don't join the board. 'Tis a big ol' honking cesspool of idiots.

Unless you like the ho + yay. Then, find your way to the Son of HoYay thread, and engage in polite yet fun & snarky discussion of asses. And. Um. Stuff.

(hee. my community got mentioned on FW. i think i'm sniffly now.)

Holy cheese, I went to college with Jacqueline. She's always been a little...how to say...superwackyfuntime? She personally destroyed a socially inept friend's faith in humankind by luring him with promises of sweet loving into letting her shave all his hair off. Took pictures too. For some folks that would actually be a fun night, but she never did put out. Poor Steve still has panic attacks when he gets a haircut.

And then there were the humorously inept attempts to seduce my roommate ("let's push our beds together--it'll be warmer!") and the dining hall spectacle that resulted when she practiced deep-throating soft serve ice cream cones...

Anyway, at least she's eating these days. She's also running the Washington state Libertarian party and ran for governor last term. Nice to see she has other hobbies.

It's a movie on his short-lived tv series Firefly which is about what happens when the kids on Space Cases go bad. Or something.

I haven't gotten over Catalina's actress being there.

Since when are writer's of tv shows suppose to do excatly what people who watch the shows say they must do?

Where would the surprise be in that?

I would rather they [change the lightbulb} than be bored to death by predictablity in a story.

Demanding a writer do exactly as you wrote in your fanfic = very very wanky.
