Because it's a slow day, just a little wank for you.
It's been awhile since [info]fanficrants has made it on here (Ye Gods, a couple of days?), so you know what time it is.

Fanficrants!Wank time!

You know what's going to happen when the subject line reads: To Trolls of All Fandoms. The OP has taken offense to people posting deliberate badfic without labeling it as parody, which is pretty wanky in and of itself. Eventually, the OP loses her cool (within the original post, no doubt) then busts out the Capslocks of Rage, and it looks like the wank is on.

Some good wank here.

More people disagree.

Interesting theory: The OP might be responding to this experiment.

I disagree with the OP, and honestly don't get the point of the cleanup-badficland thing that seems to be motivating her plea (I get mocking badfic, and I get leaving constructive crit if one actually cares and feels like helping an author, but I really don't comprehend the drive to eliminate or report badfic as a public service), but overall I'm not seeing much wank/excitement in the post at this point. Most people are agreeing/disagreeing peaceably.

No prob. I get what you mean, I just thought the OP was getting way too worked up over a non-issue, even to the point of trying to bring the wank on purpose.

The OP is gehayi. I generally much one way or the other about her -- we have a friend or two in common, and she can be amusing when tearing into Mary Sues -- but she can go from zero to wank in 2 seconds flat if she wants.

I really hate that. "We must purge the internet of all badfic!". Yeah, I used to agree with that, but then I realized...people are gonna write whatever they want and we can't stop them.

Yeah, the internet is one big slushpile, basically, FFnet especially so. Only it's probably worse then what a real publisher would see because most people sending an actual manuscribt in probably at least spellchecks it first.

If it really bothered her she could set up an archive in her fandoms of choice that weeds out the worst of the worst. Mary Sue might still make an appearance, but at least she would be properly spelled and grammar checked.

As in Laurell K. Hamilton?

Good Fucking God, I wanted to through Cerulean Sins against the wall the entire time I was reading it, because on practically every page there'd be one or two instances of commas misuse or similar error.

And, also: bitch, please. Get a new analogy besides, "shone like a captive star."

(Woman totally jumped the shark after Obsidian Butterfly.)

Fuck, she jumped the shark after she stopped using Edward in the books. /assassin-love

Indeed. Edward was far and away her most interesting character, and Obsidian Butterfly was the last good Anita book, IMHO.
