Since we're in need of some fun wank, an IMDB thread wank. This is not my first wank, so don't fuck with me. :P

For those of you who've yet to see "The Day After Tomorrow,"it's a basic disaster flick based on the premise that the earth suddenly and catastrophically enters into a new Ice Age thanks to global warming. And make no mistake -- when I say suddenly, I mean before Letterman makes his first totally-unfunny joke tonight. As disaster flicks go, it's pretty farfetched, with New York City being swamped and civilizations being razed left and right by sudden natural disasters.

It's piss-poor science, but good fun. It's also something that would probably be kinda memorable if it happened. So naturally, someone has to ask over at the IMDB boards: Is it based on a true story?

Whether it's just a troll having some fun (my vote) or someone who needs to brush up on his history, the replies are enormously entertaining, ranging from the ranting Rage Against the Stupid to the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm.

Yes, of course it happened in the 80's. The year was 1985, I was sitting in my grade 4 class when suddenly a major cold front came in. My teacher immediately escorted us into the library where we burned books and survived on gum from underneath the tables. It looks like your friend the professor has one this round. I also wouldn't be arguing with him if he remembers the day the Muppets took Manhattan. Utter chaos from what I recall.

Independence Day, rotten brains, massive government conspiracies and organ donations all make appearance.

Shallow, but much more entertaining than endless metawank.
